Brian Kelly - 52,380,000 (8.7 million due annually until 2031.)

Joe Sloan - 1 million
Frank Wilson - 1.1 million
Brad Davis - 940K
Cortez Hankton - 1 million
Alex Atkins - 1.1 million

Blake Baker - 2.5 million
Kyle Williams - 1.63 million
Kevin Peoples - 700k
Corey Raymond - 755k (Has team option for 2026, not sure what that means unless it's the same thing as pro athletes)
Jake Olsen - 400k (Contract expiring anyways)

New Roster (portal) - Probably around 12 million

So accounting for all of this at once and projecting Blake Baker and Frank Wilson to stay, this is a sum of 27,825,000. You can probably expect Sloan, Davis, Hankton, Peoples, and Raymond's buyouts to offset because they'd get hired pretty much immediately so estimating for that puts you at 23,430,000.

Then accounting for a new coaching staff being roughly 8 million ish to fill the holes and a new head coach salary of probably 10 million,

This is a 41.3 million dollar project. I don't know if it can be done, but if it's possible it needs to be.

I used public figures and salaries along with some estimates.

*This does not include the new head coach or staff's buyouts because we wouldn't really know until candidates are public. I'd say somewhere around 8-10 million, but that's for another time, when/if we have real candidates.

Is LSU still paying buyouts for Kelly’s other failed hires? Or have those already been settled?

Your math doesn't compute. Brian Kelly at $50+ million, and the total impact is in the $20 millions?

The waste of money for coaches on offense is just crazy. Brad Davis at almost 1 million??

OCs make less than their assistants?

Wilson needs to go too. There's no longer a need to have "recruiter" position coaches. That's what the front office is for

Joe Sloan getting 1 million is basically full on robbery and probably should be a crime.

Why it’s never going to happen. Money is better spent on buying talent the next 3-5 years

He's counting it annually. Kelly annually would be a little over 8 million until 2031.

No, it isn't. Keep this receipt if you want, I will gladly eat crow if I am wrong here.

Brian Kelly will never win a national championship.

I think he could have 2019 LSU's roster and he'd find away to frick it up. Say what you want about O, but he at least had the sense to see that he managed to gather an assembly of talent and coaches CFB rarely sees and then sit back and let it ride.

Brian Kelly is a much more competent coach than Orgeron, but I don't think there's a chance he doesn't shite the bed somewhere down the line in 19.

blah, blah, blah. Do you want a top notch program? A&M paid out Jimbo's contract. They're currently 7-0.

We will pay this whether Kelly is here or not. The roster budget will remain what it is no matter the coaching staff.

tldr, but another thing to factor in is potential lost revenue/NIL support for the piss poor product Kelly is putting out there, hard to estimate that but at some point people are going to pull the plug

If he gets fired those terms will be null.

25% of principal is the industry standard for a contract like this, so 25% of 50 million is is 12.5 due the day you fire him. Payout of the balance is usually 4 or 5 years (we just finished paying O).

Assistants get the full amount owed on the contract at termination.

20 (we spent 18 last year) is the goal for portal players.

I can absolutely see a reality where boosters pull the plug on transfers until kelly is gone. 18 million dollars a year on the portal adds up and seeing it wasted like it is, you may as well just try and buy him out.

They'd make the money back quickly, having a good football program works wonders for your financials.

agree, this is big business with a lot at stake, the buyout, provided there is a well thought replacement strategy in place, could turn out to be a smart investment with a huge ROI

In regards to Kelly's buyout, does he not also have the Franklin clause where he has to look for a new job?

I would assume that if Kelly was fired, he would likely get a new coaching gig pretty easily and LSU would end up saving a nice chunk off the buyout based on the salary difference.

If that clause doesn't exist for Kelly, than Woodward really is the worst.
