Winning and great recruiting build that hope and excitment. Yeah Vandy is good but you don't lose to Vandy when you are hunting for post season hardware.

10 million per,it's not our job to build excitment and expectations, I am fan, I am just pointing out that the CEO of the program has to put that message out there... and then back it up with product

I am calling out Kelly for saying we're spoiled...being 11-11 on the road and 5-15 against ranked teams since he came to LSU

. Yes he walked into a dumpster fire with 38 scholarships and NIL and transfer portal BS, but he does not understand the importance of LSU football to this state and the alumni...

He's had 2 DC and 2 OC hires....

he's 2 of 4 on those hiring decisions.... 40 million dollars later and we still don't have complimentary coaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been a big supporter of BK because that's what fans do, support the program... support your coach.

LSU should be in the playoffs every year. It's a tough league and everyone wants to win. But LSU has advantages and resources most do not have.

Josh Pate said last night in his podcast LSU is a top 5 job in college football...

I believe that's true....He said, "you might be suprised who would want that job"...

He said UF is great job also but not as as high as LSU probably because it has less competition for in state talent.

If LSU gets wrecked by A$M this weekend, the Kelly Era is over. I actually think it's already over...

None us want to sit through another Les Miles ending...

I don't have 50 million to buy out Kelly, so It's not up to me, but those seats are going to continue to be empty in 3rd QTR....

I attended the Bama UT game this weekend, LSU has fallen way behind in game fan experience. That stadium was lit....from beginning to end... no one left early....

Just sayin!!!!!!!!!! we got big cultural problems to solve... we need a coach who can address it

When LSU sees donations to both TAF and NIL (if donating to NIL is even still a thing, I can't keep up with that), they'll start having discussions. I think donors close their wallet starting now and it'll take some time for that to continue before LSU decides they better stop the bleeding. You know LSU has always been reactionary instead of proactive.

Kelly has never been able to grab momentum that’s been his biggest problem. He gets 80% there and then sputters whether it’s recruiting misses, portal misses, coaching hire misses etc. And it manifests in his teams unable to put teams away or make the marginal plays in close games that leads to losses.

He’s too passive and reactive. As you said the fanbase is really perceptive to things like recruiting and know when a coach is going guns blazing, and the support is reciprocated - see Will Wade and Jay Johnson for example. The time to create and build that excitement is in the first 2-3 years. The great coaches all do it by year 2. He did this to himself.

I can, they are professional athletes. Professionals should play like professionals.

Year 1: Having Polian run recruiting and not addressing special teams. Letting Raymond and Baker go and hiring a HS coach to coach CBs

Year 2: Matt House of horrors. Great offense, no, defense.

Year 3: Denbrock leaves and Sloan takes over. No run game. Hires Baker and Corey back. Refuses to embrace the portal.

Year 4: Sloan remains and Davis can't coach OL. Decides the portal is good. Great defense. No offense.

For an experienced coach it sure looks like Kelly has been making it up as he goes. He was supposed to be the "adult in the room" hire.

They’re still young men putting their bodies and their names on the line every Saturday. They need a coach they can look up to and someone who can lead them

Since Woody arrived on Campus, 2019, which programs have you been excited about?
Name the positive decisions that have come from the AD.

This is starting to look a lot like 1988. Loads of talent, coming off several 9-10 win seasons, to 5 team at beginning of season - everything seemed to be pointing upward. But in reality we had a coach that wasn't what everyone thought he was, recruiting was dropping down and coordinators weren't top level. We all remember what happened after that season.

Baseball and his hiring of Jay Johnson. That’s all I got.

Former Kelly supporter/defender here. Would like to say that I’m officially done with him and think the either needs to make major changes immediately or he needs to go. But for conversations sake, I’d like to unpack some of the things you said

quote:

10 million per,it's not our job to build excitment and expectations, I am fan, I am just pointing out that the CEO of the program has to put that message out there... and then back it up with product

Agree

quote:

I am calling out Kelly for saying we're spoiled

Two things can be correct at the same time. Kelly has underperformed big time… but he is correct in saying that LSU fans are spoiled. Not sure how old you are but LSU used to be bad. Really bad. Then for the longest time, we were very good. ELITE… shite, it seems like since 2010ish, we’ve been in contention at least until November almost every single year.. so if you’re part of that younger crowd, that’s pretty much all you’ve ever known.

quote:

LSU should be in the playoffs every year

Perfect example. Does this not sound crazy to you? The playoffs? Every single year in a conference as tough as the SEC? That’s spoiled.. I’m sorry but that’s the truth

quote:

But LSU has advantages and resources most do not have

What are we talking about here? And don’t just throw out the old cliche ‘Louisiana HS talent’. Because while that may be true, Georgia has Georgia kids, Texas has Texas kids, Florida, etc….
And if you’re talking money, then let’s see the proof? How do you quantify something like that?

quote:

Josh Pate said last night in his podcast LSU is a top 5 job in college football... I believe that's true....He said, "you might be suprised who would want that job"...

I’m a big Pate fan and I heard that too.. who do you think he was referring to?? I’m sure everyone’s first thought is gonna be Saban but I’m not sure how realistic that is

quote:

I attended the Bama UT game this weekend, LSU has fallen way behind in game fan experience.

Another good point.

I think you’re getting caught in the semantics. LSU should expect to be in the playoffs every year - that’s a standard. Sometimes you meet standards and sometimes you don’t - that happens. It’s impossible to meet standards 100% of the time but by setting the standard you make success more likely. Like LSU baseball and Omaha. But the point is that you can’t have 1 playoff appearance as a program all time. And 0-4 in the case of Kelly.

The life was sucked out of the team in 2023 with how bad that defense was and Kelly and Co. have yet to really get that energy back. It was close to coming back last year after Ole Miss but A&M and Bama just sucked the life out of the fans.

I was in my seats for that Bama game and the energy was not like it normally would be there was like a sense of nervousness. That has only continued.

Kelly thought he was big braining this whole rebuild with his narcissistic self and playing the long game.. Its been really quite humorous to see other coaches reach a better outcome than Kelly has in a fraction of the time. His excuses have run out and he no longer has the past to blame and he DIDNT have the answers like he sold Woodward and the fan base his first few years. He's acted as though he's building a dynastic program and here we are on the outside looking in on the playoff picture by mid October 4 years into the creation of his opus.

Gotta move on, dudes a lame duck

Let me rephrase my expectations

"in the hunt for the playoffs every year"

This is now year 6, without making the playoffs

So you tell me if my expectations are off

we have played in 4 national title games the least 23 seasons

so about every 5 years, we play for all the marbles

we- currently don't look very close to competing for national titles

If I was a betting man, I would say Alabama is going to win the national title this year...they look the best and most tested so far to me

am I wrong?

this isn't how it is supposed to go after the GOAT retired

People would argue the state Saban left the program in was worlds better than O. And that’s right. The problem is Kelly has had 4 years. You’re never starting at true 0 at a place like LSU with the resources and brand we have. 4 years in and when he pushed his chips in we’re sitting here wondering how many more games we’re going to lose and how we can buy the guy out.

We’re in a TEMU Les Miles era now. But for a higher price. And he doesn’t even have a natty to coast on.
