Of all the horrible O play to choose from, the not scoring a TD on 1st and Goal at the 2 for 2 weeks in a row blows my mind the most.

Draw on 3rd and 30 is pretty bad. But not trying once to throw it to TDG either 1st and Goal situation doesn’t make sense. And to actually lose yardage both times is sad.

The worst part about it is I knew they weren’t going to score a TD Saturday when they had the long run go out of bounds at the 2. I knew they’d frick it up somehow.

All we need is a full back and return the I formation.
Nowadays defense is doesn't prepare for that

We have the play and personnel. Pyburn at FB and J Johnson over the top

We could run a wing-T. Why? Because:

Surrender on multiple occasions on this scenario

To be fair, didn’t we have a pretty good play design that scored a TD but was called back for a fake start or illegal formation?

That pass to Thomas was actually a decent call

Both times those failed opportunities resulted from RBs getting chased down from behind.

We must never practice goal line scoring. You have to be creative cause we cannot out muscle anyone.

Can you explain how this is bad? I see this being brought up a lot. This is one of the most basic coaching decisions out there and you see it across college football and pros.

You aren't converting a 3rd and 30. The defense is playing soft and 20 yards off the ball. The chance of an interception is very high forcing in down the field in this situation.

The goal is just pick up as many additional yards as possible for a punt. usually this means a safe call around the line of scrimmage. Draws, Screens and short crossing routes to a playmaker and maybe something happens, but you are playing for as many yards as possible and then punt.

In that situation, they should have thrown a low percentage jump ball down the sideline because the draw kept the clock running.

But yes, normally a draw or screen pass is all you're doing there because a turnover ends the game.

All you have to do is fake a hand off, roll the QB out and release the TE to the same side. There will be one player covering the TE and he will have to decide whether to stay on the TE or move forward to tackle the QB. Either way it always works cause if he comes towards the QB you toss it to the TE and if he stays on the TE the QB runs it in.

Even worse considering the scenario. Draw on 3rd and 30 and THEN let 40 seconds run off the clock while down 1TD in the 4th Quarter.

Dude, we possibly have the worst OL in the country. They CANNOT block simple assignments.

Go watch our LT for a few plays. But please, fix a stiff drink before you do...it hurts your eyes
