I’m always hearing announcers gushing over Penix’s strong arm, but I watch the guy play and wonder if we’re watching the same thing. His arm actually appears relatively weak to me. Am I alone?

He doesn’t have an over the top release from a huge frame that drives the ball all the time.

But he can sling it. He threw a missable to Ridley the other day.

so you saw the throw to Mooney before half and still think he has a weak arm?

Relatively weak, yea. Every NFL QB can chuck it 50 yards easy

Strong arm but if the quick reads aren't there or he gets flustered it gets ugly.

They just had a whole segment about his arm strength. Verdict: It's pretty good.

I don't see it. He looks like he's a "pusher" of the ball instead of one of those guys that drive the ball with a snap of the wrist.

If we’re talking zip, he’s average at best imo. Collinsworth is cumming all over the booth tonight about this laser arm and I just don’t see it. Baker Mayfield has zip, Joe Burrow has zip. Penix can throw it far and is pretty accurate, but arm strength is more of a liability than a strength

Above average zip but one of the tops at pure distance.

Because all of his power comes from his hips. Not unlike a power pitcher.

For whatever reason lefty QBs never look like they have a strong arm visually to me, aside from Michael Vick of course

You're not wrong but Penix is an exception.

He threw a pass on a wheel route earlier to Pitts and told the wife 49er DB should have Picked that floater and Chris “dumbasss” Collinsworth went on and on about his arm strength.

I would say it’s not his strong point overall.

Josh Allens QB coach who has coached 100s of college & nfl QBs said there 3 types of QBs. Chunkers, throwers, & passers. He said Josh was a chunker when he started coaching him as a rookie in the NFL. Everything from his finger tips to his toes was wrong with his throwing motion. He said it took several years to turn Josh into a passer. He said now he's had to add a 4th category of thrower for Josh & it's an Alien & he's the only one on the planet.
