Are we for sure out of the CFP at 9-3 with wins against A&M (#3) and Oklahoma (#15-#20)?

The problem here of course is that Oklahoma could be unranked by the time we play them. They still have OM, @ Tenn, @ Bama, and Mizzou before playing us. But a 9-3 SEC team with a few strong wins late in the year and losses to only top 15 teams (Bama, OM, Vandy) is not a bad look at all.

The AP in week 9 of 2024 had 14 1-loss teams, currently there are 20 1-loss teams in there now. Last year at this point there were 3 2-loss teams, there are now 7 2-loss teams this week. It's becoming increasingly likely that there will be a few 3 loss teams that crack the top 12.

Obviously fire Brian Kelly and everything, but I hate to break it to y'all a win against A&M and a close loss to Bama means we are probably still in the top 20. If we rattle off three in a row and cap it off with a top 20 win @ Oklahoma, we could very well be in and it wouldn't be the craziest thing ever.

Edit: so judging by the comments, no one is capable of understanding hypotheticals and actually thinks that I am saying LsU will win 4 of our next 5

We would have a solid chance of sneaking in. But I’m going to hold my breathe. I believe we will beat A&M but we may get obliterated at Bama which would hurt our case immensely.

For sure, for sure. They only take 12 teams and they won’t go down to lower half of SEC.

I hate to break it to you. LSU has to actually win those games, lol. That’s the flaw in your logic. The product on the field doesn’t help your argument.

Agreed. A two touchdown loss to Bama would seal it. But the committee does favor momentum. Winning 4 of your last 5 with your only loss being a top 5 Bama shows that.

It's called a hypothetical, that I'm proposing. It's not my prediction

We have a ton left to play for. I wish our fans weren’t so mentally soft and stuck in the 2000s college football mindset.

The problem for LSU is that they are currently tied for 9th in the conference with Tenn and FL at 2-2. Theoretically, a 3-loss SEC team could get into the playoffs, but it seems unlikely at this point. LSU's only path is to win out.

How bout this, buddy

Pull for A&M to embarrass us at home for the guys that can afford to correct mistakes like Woodward made to step up and get this in the right direction

Don’t be that idiot looking to beat A&M like Miles did to keep his job

Kelly is bad and doesn’t give a shite. Reckless with his life and legacy, but lacking the good fortune to have trusted individuals actually running things like O had

The sooner a move is made from above the top the better. But we have an interim President that is an Ag/Sociology guy that doesn’t know the difference b/w a CB and a QB, and an AD that has made the 2 worst FB coaching hires in the industry

It is going to take an epic collapse to get this thing going in the right direction. Woodward and Kelly gone at the same time. Make Saban say no, then hire an up and comer with some momentum on budget, so you can spend the rest on players

And the new coach must agree to starting a QB that requires SEC level defenses to respect his feet

If we beat A&M, Arky, and OU we would have a great case. We may be the toughest test A&M has left. If they went 11-1 with only loss being to us it would be tough to keep us out. A loss to Bama who maybe ends up 11-1 wouldn’t kill our chances if it’s respectable. Ole Miss and Vandy can help by being 10-2 or better.

If that were to play out I would give us a 25% chance of making it. Regardless we would he going on the road in the 1st round and getting embarrassed if that were to happen

Yall talking bout A&M and OU. I’m here to tell you we ain’t beating Arkansas. Their offensive is humming! They’ve lost by a combined 7 points to A&M, Tenner, and Ole Miss.

I'm amazed that some LSU fans actually think this team has been competitive enough this season to sniff the playoffs.

the offense has not improved enough to finish strong since Ole Miss.

CBK is not the coach we though may lead this team to the promise land. far from it. his 'year four' is evidence of that but not many can see it.
