Keeping a bird dog in an apartment

I’m thinking about buying a pointer but I don’t have a backyard. Will the dog be okay in an apartment during the day or should I wait until I have a backyard?

if you run it every morning it should be fine!

The right breed and the right puppy from that breed and you will be fine. You need to ask yourself what you want out of dog and then go buy the best pedigree you can find to match you needs and desires. Even if that means driving 1/2 way across the country. Just because you saw a cute litter listed on Facebook, doesn't mean that is the dog you should be buying.

I have a Britt that’s 6 years old. If he was in an apartment all day he would eat the paint off the walls. To much energy. Mine may be an abnormally.

This guy is a troll who periodically posts absurd questions like this just to stir up the board. He is not a legitimate poster and this is 100% a troll.
He changes his story periodically about his age, location, profession, marital status, etc.
Ignore him.

Yep. Apparently his wife is only 10 years out of high school but has a [step]son (her biological son) who graduated college and works at Ernst and Young in Austin (who is also gay). Post history is all over the place with this guy.

He has claimed to be a 45 year old attorney. And also claimed to be in his 60s and retired.
He brags about shooting hen turkeys out of season, etc etc. Just makes stuff up to get a reaction. He's an idiot.

I have a high energy lab and live on a quarter acre. I have to drive her to the park so she can swim and chase tennis balls every day. If I dont she paces all day/night.

I would wait or go with a lab. Then choose the right breeder. Some labs are 100% chill until “showtime”. I have one like that now. She’s as lazy as they come until it’s time to work, the. Al switch gets flipped and she’ll run 100mph.

We had our pointer (braque) in an apartment for the first couple of years and it sucked. Completely different dog after we moved into our first house. So much happier and no behavior problems since.

I've had insanely high energy dogs that were not working dogs in an apartment, and that was rough enough. To keep my dog sane, I was walking around 5 miles a day and going to dog parks around 3/4 times a week.
