Find him and make him an offer he can't refuse. Take part ot the $ 76 MM it's going to take to fire Kelly and the assistants and hire a great OC. Then take some of that money and work the portal again. Kelly, like Miles, is a CEO. He has to have great assistants.

I remember when that person was Tom Herman.

Elevating coordinators to big time HC usually doesn’t work out. It’s why LSU hires experienced HCs.

I said make him LSU's OC, not the head coach.

Tom Herman was a HC when LSU almost hired him

As an OC? We have done this before and it was a disaster. Remember Matt Canada?

Offensive coordinators are subjectively good because part of the skillset is evaluating talent and building a plan around strengths. This is where Sloan fails miserably. Any sustainable success as an OC is derived from recruiting the players who complement the scheme.

Going to be hard to get an OC with BK on the hot seat.

I put this out as a logical possibility, as opposed to blowing everything up and starting over. Which will set us back years.

You trust him to make the right hire? He's been terrible at that too...and who in their right mind would want to come join this sinking ship?

This is 2021 all over again when Orgeron had to settle for Jake Peetz because coaches knew Orgeron was on the hotseat.

Experienced, yes. But we need to poach from a mid-tier P4 school. Saban came from Michigan State. Miles came from Oklahoma State. Those coaches were "promoted" when they came here. Kelly was more of a lateral hire, hence the crazy money. We need to find someone who is exceeding expectations at a mid-tier school, and give them an opportunity. Crazy money should only come after success at LSU.

Ryan day
Dan lanning
Kirby Smart
Steve Sarkisian
Marcus Freeman

Do you think LSU is above Ohio state Oregon notre dame or Georgia?

Id argue the track record for coordinators has been better the last ten years than the big splash hc hires

And we were so worried about losing Sloan.

My mistake. I forgot he was at Houston a short while before being crowned the second coming. Anyway, he was a fart in the wind like most other coordinators who get promoted. HC at a major college is a tough job and not everyone can do it.

Yes, those few examples did work out. Hence the word usually. There are more examples that failed. Hiring a HC with HC experience is a safer bet which should be obvious

Replacing our offensive staff and players is going to cost a ton for what is a lame duck head coach. It’s not as expensive as Kelly but it’s in the tens of millions by the time it’s done. Just wait another year or so and start all over
