….but Kelly knew he was cooked by then, and even before.

And I thought it was odd then. It was a different kind of rant with excuses and the press’ inability to ask simple questions.

But now I get it.

He set himself up with talking too much.

-Claiming year three was the year to start competing.

-Having a Heisman QB but not being able to piece together a top 60 defense.

List goes on. But he’s walking into the sunset with a garbage contract.

I don’t think he’s concerned about his legacy since his parachute is the size of Texas.

I agree.

Why would he be? If I'm 65, and I've made a name for myself in my field as a really good all time coach, know that I'm good for the rest of my life, the ship is sinking and everyone hates me, ESPECIALLY a bunch of people I look down on (it's obvious, BK), I'm going to say the hell with it, ride it out and then go be with my family.

This is on Woodward.

Kelly's done. He can't hide it. He is a small time coach. Grand Valley, Central Mich, Cincinnati. He's over his head in the SEC

He's not leaving LSU anytime soon. So I'm not sure what "done" means

I still think he thought he was able to do it. But it cracked him in the head on year two and then he was drowning.

Half the people here defended kelly when that happened…

Hur dur we’re undefeated.

What it told me was that kelly didnt see a reason to change anything. I knew we were done.

Yeah that's always the worst. Was a major theme during the Les tenure.

Ignoring flaws because you haven't lost (yet) is literal fool's gold.

Oh, those flaws you told us to ignore were major part of the last 2 losses? Shocker

His problem, I believe, is he’s never had to coach SEC players before and his demeanor and dickhead my way or the highway style doesn’t fly with 18-22 year olds in the south who didn’t attend catholic schools with 4.0 GPA’s their whole lives. For the first time in his coaching career, he’s in the south coaching/controlling the kind of young men you find in the south and the SEC, and you have to have the ability to connect with them in order to gain their respect. Miles was like the father that most of them never had. O was a wild and likable intense coach who was like a father to many of them. Saban was very involved in coaching them up to teach them and he preached processes. He got in their faces and demanded results but he backed that all up with results and bettering their draft stocks so they listened.

Kelly is a dickhead who yells and gets in their faces but do you ever really see him teaching anything? He relies on his staff to do that and he acts more like a company CEO - out of touch with reality and in his own bubble - who blames those under him for his failures.

Kelly does not fit at LSU or anywhere in the SEC. His arse needs to go yesterday.

I, as this title shows, still believed.
I was wrong.

I think it means it’s clear he’s not going to win here. The fans know it and I think Kelly knows it too.

No, but I think he's just going to go through the motions until they fire him in two years. I think he's realizing that he is not the guy to win a National Championship at LSU.

He's used to having 1 or 2 big games at ND. At LSU, you have 6 or 7 big games. He can't adjust. It is year 4. He is too old to change anything now.

From the outside, these are glaring optics. I would hope behind the scenes that is not the case. If so and Woody is aware, it’s his responsibility to act

People, think about it! Kelly is not concerned in the least about his performance as a coach. And if you think about it, would you be if you were in his shoes? The man knows that, once this gig ends, he will have all the money he will need to do whatever he wants for the rest of his life. To top that off, there will be enough to ensure that his kids will be taken care of, also. The man frickin has it made! He ain’t concerned with winning a frickin championship!

It's painfully obvious at this point.

Unfortunately, unless there are more money wells to tap, we probably have 2 more years of this.

I don't think Kelly is just going to go through the motions if he knows the die is cast here. His ego is too big for that. If (really, when, as in now) donors start backing off support because they don't believe in or like him, Kelly isn't just going to lose big and make excuses because his ego will not let him suffer the overall embarrassment like that.
