I’ve been searching for anything close to Darrell’s since moving to Houston and finally found it after seeing a post on a Facebook group.

The Boil House in Rosenberg has a sandwich called the trifecta and it is basically the same thing and pretty much just as good. I think they just opened recently but I wanted to let any other H Towners know. Darrell’s is can’t miss any time I go to Lake Charles. The owners of this place have to have some connection because from the bread to the jalapeño mayo they nailed it.

Been waiting for that place to open up. Down the road from where we go to church, and I had heard the Houston location was pretty good.

However, gonna agree with CGrand on the opinion of Darrell’s. Hell…looking at their menu, looks like Boil House doesn’t have a simple fried shrimp or fried oyster poboy either.

Will probably just wait and give their boiled crawfish a try in the spring.

Do you not like sandwiches? Because it's a good sandwich. It may not be the best sandwich in the world as some make it out to be. It may not even be a real poboy by Nola standards, But unless you don't like sandwiches, or are being disingenuous, I don't see how you could find it "unappetizing".

I don’t think it’s a bad sandwich, but I just also don’t see any reason to make a special trip to Darrell’s for any of their sandwiches.

Now…the boiled crawfish and boiled shrimp at the Jennings location is pretty darn good, so I’ll go there to pick that up.

I would eat nothing but sandwiches if that was possible. I’ve tried Darrell’s twice. The meat was low quality and the mayo concoction was off putting. It’s ok that I didn’t like it y’all will survive

Ham, Turkey and Roast beef poboy, dressed, w/ jalapeño mayo. Served with gravy. I like it.

Jennings location

Closed permanently in August. Dispute with building owner, crawfish provider/restaurant owner, and Darrell’s LC family. Farmer and guy responsible for crawfish cooking had enough of their BS and called their bluff. He’s still debating a way to do crawfish this upcoming season.

I’m honestly surprised someone here would even think theirs was good (I do) because they dust and everyone knows that is a hot button.

Ok. Your desire to let everyone know how much you don’t like the thing, that the OP is centered around.

You could just leave?

ETA: or just not came in the thread to begin with, but you had to jump in as the first post to make sure everyone knows that you don’t like it

It’s a thread about Darrell’s…
Why would he leave it if he has
Something today about it?

You do know everyone’s tastes are different, right?

Oh look. Someone else that apparently didn’t read or can’t comprehend an OP lol

He got his rocks off by making sure he was the first response to let everyone know how much he doesn’t like Darrel’s. Such badass.

Never got the appeal of the Special but if you tell me I’m dying in an hour and give me one last thing to eat it’s the Darrel’s shrimp poboy with the jalapeno mayonnaise along with my mom’s sweet potato and pecan casserole
