Need watch advice

Haven’t worn a watch in years, but looking to get something. Was looking at seiko and seiko mods. Anyone got experience with either? Wife thinks I need a Rolex, but I think want something cheaper until I see if I’m going to like wearing one. That and I know Jack shat about watches.
Something along these lines. Is a seiko mod a bad idea?

Unless you're a watch enthusiast I don't think it really matters what kind of watch you get. Pick one that appeals to you. When you realize you like watches, then buy the Rolex.

There are some pretty nice Seiko mods you can order to make them look like a submariner or seamaster and a few other models.

get a timex. It will keep time and you can see how you like a watch on your wrist. I’ve never worn a watch in my life but if I did decide to try one it wouldn’t be a Rolex for fricks sake

If you like that style just buy a titanium Luminox.
Bought mine strictly for diving but it's ended up being the best watch out of my collection and I find myself wearing it most days.

I'd get a Vaer quartz diver if this is just a field test to see if you like wearing a dive watch every day. Seikos are great across the board for their respective price points. I just wouldnt get an expensive one.
