I haven’t noticed him too much. Is he still an all American candidate or a jag?

His first step when he just reacts to the ball at the LOS is elite.

Having him play 5+ yards off the LOS has made him sort of irrelevant at times.

It would be cool to see him rush again in more spots.

He’s never really been an elite playmaker outside of one game two years ago. He’s always too far away to do anything useful.

The way we are playing him when we play zone makes no sense

Other teams have good coaches who can adjust to their opponents schemes. They are taking Perkins out of the play by formation making him cover a RB or TE.Don’t know what BB can do about it.Lane showed how to do it.

These comments about his 2022 season are so silly, and categorically false.

He produced a TFL, Sack, or INT/PD against @Auburn, OleMiss, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi St, Purdue.....

He's being schemed up a little bit by the offense on the other side. Teams are making a concerted effort to take him out of his game. Difference is that this year we have talent at other positions to step up and handle business.

Was he ever? Or is/was he an undersized one trick pony that offenses have learned how to scheme against?

Video breakdowns have shown they're keeping him too far back off the line to make much of an impact rushing the passer. Probably the only real criticism of the defense so far unless there's some schematic reason

Yeah. He is terrible in coverage so the have to line him up away from the LOS. If they don't they throw it over his head.

He’s been perfectly fine for what they’re asking him to do.

He’s in on a shitload of tackles. There’s some alignment things that I’m not sure are necessarily his fault which kinda hampers his pass rushing ability at times but it’s not like he’s invisible out there.

Kiffin said it himself this year they planned to stay away from him. Find ways to get him 1 on 1 and try to run him out of the play

Yes.

He is an elite situational pass rusher. He is an elite coverage LB. He is the best QB spy in America. He has the best closing speed of any LB in the country.

He is also now a much improved run defender.

People who don't understand football think he's average. This defense doesn't work without Perk.
