he’s not unavailable unless the buyout for him to leave is cost prohibitive

Shiiiiiiitttttt, you think Woodward is opposed to buying out a contract like that then throwing in an even bigger contract for the guy?

They will never get a better coach to go there.

You absolutely lock Cig up for as long as you can.

$15m, so not terrible.

Probably structured like most of them to drop each year too, just have to wait and see.

i assume that's the buyout if indiana were to fire him, but is it different if he leaves? not that he'd ever come to LSU, just curious.

Edit: guess I missed the fully guaranteed part, holy shite. Must be a sexton client

Jimbo Fisher 2.0.

When are colleges going to learn.

I hope it works out for them but this can backfire bigtime.

Guy is in his 60s, may be his last coaching contract.

ETA: he’s 64.

Now Florida and Penn State can’t get him either.

Does that kind of sound like the kind of buyout you negotiate to allow your current team to get a little money, but not scare away a serious suitor?

That would be ironic if Penn State went ahead and hired Cignetti anyway.

These contracts are getting out of hand.

8 years?

$93 million?

At Indiana?

IMHO...I HIGHLY doubt he's winning a NC during his tenure there. If that holds true, it will be an absolute horrible contract. If we're being honest, $10m/yr is the kind of $$$$ where anything less than a NC during the contract is FAILURE!

It's Indiana bro. They have different expectations than LSU regardless of the contract.
