Timing. They were basically a third wave hair band. (Example- Motley -RATT—Quiet Riot were 1st wave, Poison, Warrant were 2nd wave)

If they had come out 3- 4 years earlier they would have had a shot. By the time they released their first album the scene was at the tail end & Grunge was simmering & about to blow it all up.

It says they broke up in 1991, wasn't that about when grunge/punk rock were taking over?

If they'd have changed their name to St. George, they would have made it big.

One of the guys in the band, Kelley Keeling, put out a great solo album, Giving Sight to the Eye. He also wrote/played with some other big name acts. Guy had a lot of talent.

Timing. They were as good as many bands who had their ride on the rock star express in those days. They just didnt hit it at the right time.

IIRC they actually were from Lafayette.

This is the most likely reason.

Yea, hair metal was going through its death throes about that time.

I can listen to Hair Nation on Sirius XM and they play music from that era and I've never even heard of most of the bands. After about 1989, there wasn't much from that genre.

They should have just changed the name to Red Stick. Coulda' done lots of marketing around that, but Baton Rouge? I'm sorry, was there a band named Shreveport, too? How 'bout Zwolle?

1990 was a little late for hair metal right?

I agree they sound good.

Should we just post music videos of acts from BR that maybe should have “made it”?

Let me start:

They were a legitimately damn good band. Always hated they didn’t put out more music.
