The gauntlet starts 11:00 am on Saturday. 4 of our next 6 opponents are currently ranked within the top-20. Even Arkansas has shown it can hang around for 60 minutes.

It's time for this team to get it together and have all 3 phases (offense, defense and special teams) firing on all cylinders at the same time.

I'm going to lose my mind if we have to listen to Kelly at the podium post game talk about how they have to do a better job coaching, and executing and they have to do a better job of preparing.

While the defense has played great all year, it's going to be disappointing if Baker seems unprepared again for the running element of the quarterback. Our next 4 games all have QBs who can hurt you with their legs if you let them.

No time like the present to have the offense get out of its own way. I understand that there are some deficiencies, but this team is too talented to not find ways to scheme around some of them.

We're 3.5 years into this deal now, and the moment has finally arrived to see if Kelly and this team actually has the jam to get into the playoffs.

I’m ready to Kelly to give a speech about wanting to dominate the man in front of you. The mindset shite I respect and it’s important but at some point he has to look the players in the eyes and say it’s time to silence the critics.

I'm ready to turn this shite around, win October, and for him to give this speech again.

Ark will NOT be an easy game. It rarely is and with Petrino in charge now, they are playing harder with guys trying to get portal film out there. If they didn't turn the ball over in the 2nd half last Saturday, they probably win that game at Tenn. Their D is awful but that is arguably one of the top 2 offenses in the conference.

That’s what we said before Ole Miss. And then before South Carolina. And when we beat Vandy, you’ll move the goalposts again and say it starts with A&M. The whole fricking season is a gauntlet.

That’s what every coach says after a loss. Would you be happier if he said we did a great job preparing, coaching, executing, and STILL lost to Vandy? What could he say after any loss that would make you happy? Nothing? Exactly.

We've moved from a top 5 program to a top15 program in 5 years.

It’s the toughness and character of this football program that will be tested over the next 2 weeks. Vandy and A&M are coached by two blue collar guys who have instilled that attitude into their respective programs. I want to see us come out and match their physicality. What pained me most about the Ole Miss loss was they appeared to be the aggressor all game long. That cannot happen again over the next 2 weeks.

Someone says something similar every week. No it won’t.
We’ve seen enough of the product to make a determination. Not like we’re gonna run out something completely different against Vandy. It is what it is.

We may have finished in the Top5 a couple times here and there. But we’ve never been a consistent Top5 program…. Ever.

That’s never been our identity as a program.

We indeed are a Top15 program that occasionally (every couple of years) puts together a team that competes for a championship. And there a lot of programs that would kill for what we have in that regard.

I don’t think 4 weeks will determine the “direction of the program”

This season, but probably more specifically, these next 6 games (maybe even the next 2) is/are Kelly's Battle of Waterloo. He's already blown one great opportunity for a championship run in 2023 by not being able to make the necessary mid-season adjustments to make the defense at least average to complement the elite offense. He made a very public "call to arms" for donor money to get the players necessary to make a run this season. The donors responded. If LSU doesn't make the CFP this year, or worse, they are essentially eliminated from contention before Nov. 1 because he, again, could not make the necessary mid-season adjustments to get one side of the ball to at least the level of "average", then fanbase and more importantly, the donors, will lose what's left of the faith they have in him. The donors won't be willing to pony up another big sum of money knowing the ROI won't be there, leaving the fanbase having to go through at least two more seasons (due to the significant buyout) waiting for BK to be exiled.

EDT:

Go back to 2015. Confidence in Les was already shaky. But he was 7-0 and ranked No. 2 going into the Alabama game. LSU then got blown out in the next 3 games. What little faith their was in Les was gone, and the only reason the A&M wasn't truly his final game was because Alleva couldn't seal the deal with Jimbo. There was a "commitment" by Les to fix the issues ahead of the 2016 season with a loaded roster ranked #5 to start. He then lost 2 games before the end of Sept due to the same problems that had long been present and the donors terminated him.

It can happen THAT fast.

What adjustment would that have been mid-season 2023?

Buddy, the back nine of the season was always going to be the toughest stretch. You can afford a loss or two at the beginning of the year even if it shrinks your margin for error. If we had lost to Clemson as well, we still wouldn't be out of the playoff picture, but we would have had to be perfect. The way Florida lost the week prior and South Carolina already having 2 losses, I felt much more confident going into those games than I do the majority of these 6 games.

How about not having to say that because we won the game?? How about the team not starting out flat on offense like they have in the majority of their games?? How about the team actually looking like they prepared for a road game against a decent team?? How about actually getting a win on the road against a ranked opponent for the second time during Kelly's tenure here?? How about actually playing up to the standard that we thought a team that is valued at $18M would play to?? Exactly.

I mean what else is there to talk about? That's the whole point of this entire site.

Would you feel the same about the program moving forward if we lose all 3 of these next games (which is plausible) compared to if we won all 3??

He gave this speech then went on to lay an egg at TAMU with a potential playoff spot on the line.

Stop playing a "Bend but don't brake" defense....when you constantly both bent and broke. LSU would have been better off switching to a more pressure-heavy approach. Yes, opponents still would have hit their fair share of big plays. But at least you would have given yourself a chance to make just enough big plays defensively to allow the offense to do enough to definitely win the Ole Miss game, and probably even the Alabama game given Alabama was struggling to stop LSU's offense.

That vid of Kelly is cringe. Seriously, Kelly doesn’t ever give off the I’ll run through a wall for that coach vibe. Never. Like they brought over the volleyball coach or tennis coach to give the football team the pregame speech.
