Trade proposed on Dallas sports radio

Cowboys "insider" was proposing trades to Dallas morning show hosts (this is the show that does the weekly interview with both Jerry Jones and the HC).
One trade proposal was: 5th rnd pick for Demario Davis.
One host was in favor - said 5th rounders are useless anyways
Other host was against based on Davis age. Didnt sound like he was very familiar with Davis game.
Nothing much to it but its at least interesting that it came from the station's "insider" reporter that is embedded at the facility and rides the team plane etc for away games.
eta: keep downvoting away for just bringing the rumors from other markets. dumbfricks.

I can’t imagine Demario plays anywhere past this year or MAYBE next year at the most. Even if his play sharply declines I have to think having him in a locker room that is being turned over is very beneficial for KM and staff given they’re like the same age

Demario, Cam and AK are Saints for life. They’re not going anywhere

Yeah I think the segment was how to fix the Cowboys defense THIS year. They didnt really care how old he was. Also were looking at guys like Grant Delpit and Quandre Diggs.
Cowboys linebacker and safety rooms are TERRIBLE

Them or 49ers should be all over him. Wouldn't do it for less than a 4th though

Due to his age we’ll never get anything for DD that’s worth it. Better to ride it out and keep his leadership and hope that he can help develop our young LBs

Yeah I don't think Cam/ DD are going anywhere. I can't see AK leaving either but if a team like KC will give us a 3rd for something like AK and a 5th and AK is cool trying to win a championship then see ya.

Dude do you realize that despite his age he is still like top 5 in the league.
You guys keep trying to make it sound like Davis is old and decrepit. You obviously know nothing about him past his age.
Correction he is currently tied at 12th but was tied for 3rd prior to week 6. He'll finish the season at or around top 10 and that's not bad for a 36 year old.
If he wants to be traded he'd land in SF. Warner is out for the season and they both have similar high level game and are team leaders.

DD is the leader of this team. Keep him as long as you can. There is no one close to his fire and leadership and on the defense especially. CKM desperately needs to develop or find someone to bring in soon. I can't imagine his loss on defense right now.

The question at hand for the Saints is DD has said he wants to play 3 more years (don’t know if that includes this year), but he’s a FA after this season. Will the saints want to meet his demands, or do they just decide to get something in return before he walks for free.

Literally nothing about my post said any of that. AT ALL. But way to white knight for the guy I guess.
But he IS very old for an NFL player and play DOES sharply decline at some point in older players. It’s highly likely and even probable that time is coming within a year or two.

DD is one of those few players the FO go to ask if he wants the deal or trade not tell them they have been traded.

He signed a 2/17.25mil last time
You think 3/24mil is reasonable for him? Because until we find an heir and his play remains this way, you're paying low end starter money for a top 10 starter

It is one of those things that you are expecting him to hit that wall, but he hasn't yet. Do you risk giving him the contract and having him hit that wall after you just gave him a signing bonus and guaranteed money. Or do you trade him or let him walk.
Funny thing is, if they do not sign him his dead cap money for next year will be $14.29M due to prorated bonuses. If they sign/extend him before the league year ends, his cap hit very well may be the same and now you have him for another few years hopefully playing at the same level.
IMO, it's worth the risk unless he demands to be paid like the top 5 player ($15+M a year) that he is. He has every right to do this, and I would not blame him for doing so; but I do not believe paying him that much would not be in the best interest of this team's future to do so. But there is no way to know what the front office is thinking.

I would hope for fat one year contracts for as long as he can play.

If I’m Jerry I’m shopping Pickens for a 2 or 3
