I live in an apartment complex in Allen, TX. (more expensive) and they are here all day and don’t seem to be employed. It pisses me off. It’s about 1/3 of the residents. They’re getting a lot more than healthcare.

They don’t check anything before giving you care at the ER, they see and treat everyone then they know no one is going to pay the bill. So they largely already have free healthcare and are clogging up the ERs for the rest of us. (Although normal people do this too and try and use the ER as a primary care as it is. This is one of the reasons it’s so expensive)

Not just outside ERs, but in large numbers due to disease or viruses anywhere in the US. If this were happening, we would see non-stop stories about it.

What is the mechanism that states use to get around the law that says Federal Medicaid funds cannot be used for illegal immigrants?
This Oregon 25% deal is out in the open, and if it is illegal, how is the state making it work?

I'm not sure how it works with healthcare funds, but I know that federal monies are usually supposed to be account for separately from state money when both are going into a given state agency. I also know that there are those whose idea of doing so is to lump them all together, dole that lump out how they see fit and then do the accounting on the back end (sometimes getting their hands slapped by the feds, sometimes not).

The only way any illegal can get any govt covered healthcare is possibly in an
ER, pursuant to law passed in the
Reagan Administration
. It amounts to
about 1% of Medicare expenditures. It’s negligible, but Republicans are screaming about illegals getting healthcare as part of their political posturing…
