That Park Place citing Cosmic Book News
quote:

I reached out to my insiders about the state of the DCU under James Gunn.

The short of it is that James Gunn will be out as the head of DCU with the WBD sale. I’m told if David Ellison of Skydance Paramount buys WBD, that Mike De Luca will be in charge of DC and do a completely new start.

In Deadline‘s report, they basically said it’s because of the sale of Warner Bros. Discovery. David Ellison is looking to purchase WBD, so WBD CEO David Zaslav is putting people in place that Ellison wants. That means Ellison wants De Luca and Abdy in charge of Warner Bros. films.
quote:

You’ll notice that Gunn has pivoted from his planned “Gods and Monsters” storyline into what he calls his “Superman Family” saga. The “Superman Family” is all Gunn. The “Gods and Monsters” storyline is likely ditched because Gunn knows he can only get a select amount of movies out before the sale.

I think we had a similar thread but I can’t find it, and this new rumor is from Mcgloin speaking to his sources according to him.

Harloff and Rocha had a pretty good discussion about it and were candid. I thought it was entertaining and worth a watch

Basically, Ellison is a Trump guy and if the takeover happens there’s a rumor that Gunn and his sensibilities won’t jive with Ellison so he’ll get booted. Gunn is doing whatever he wants right now and Rocha himself (left leaning) even references the line Adebayo makes in PS2 that the real world isn’t much different than Nazi world, which that message isn’t going to sit well with a lot of the moviegoing audience. Thus, the rumor is he’s out.

I’d like to keep all the casting but won’t be mad if Gunn is booted. They can still build off what’s been established and keep the universe intact

This is all nonsense. Paramount is in the process of trying to bring in partners for a higher bid. This may or may not happen. To think they've made a decision on Gunn is ludicrous

I doubt this. He already has two movies and two more shows in development. They've already paid out the production on some of those. That's a heavy write down for political bs.

I don’t have a lot of faith in paramount but Gunn is a complete failure for DC so at least there’s that outside chance of hope of it were to happen. Gunn isn’t gonna last anyway, after the next flop his fate will all but assuredly be sealed.

People are done with superhero movies. Unless Hollywood can perform a miracle and hire a competent staff and allow them to bypass DEI and other studio mandates, you'll never see a good superhero movie again. Its all the same slop.

Lol prepare to get downvoted into oblivion. The first guardians was a fluke it seems because everything else the guy has done has been trash.

I've always thought he was overrated. I was never high on the Guardians films, but I think this report is utter nonsense. I'm sure a random blog named cosmic news is aware of David Ellisons plans lol

The only project from Gunn that I really enjoyed was the suicide squad

Pretty cut and dry. Superman flopped, nobody watched Peacemaker and the next movie is drunk slut Supergirl. You think they’re just gonna keep letting him produce flops?

If the current iteration of the universe is making money, they aren’t rebooting because one guy likes trump. They worship money, not Donald

I hope they get rid of him.

I was surprised with Guardians because it seemed dumb when announced. It was great.

I just don't like him, I think. It rubs me the wrong way he puts his wife in shite. Her eyes look weird haha. I wanted to like Peacemaker, and I did, but the last episode made me think/believe it's exactly who he is.

The finale was hyped up and then he puts 2 musical numbers in it? fricking Nelson dude. I had to look it up to see if it was Nelson from the 80s. I couldn't believe it, and the other band I just don't give a guck about.

Anyway, that's my rant.

Well he lies constantly, he’s famous for it. Guardians was great, part 2 was good but he can only write those characters. He’s a one trick pony and after you see it a few times it gets old and he can’t write established iconic characters. He just has zero range.

I don't think people are done. Good ones do very well. Deadpool and Wolverine was just last year.
Avengers will do well most likely ditto with the Spiderman they are filming right now.

Gunn oughta have his arse kicked for such a weak Peacemaker S2, and then the dumb cliffhanger. . .

It was not awful, but it wasn't good at all.

too many thread with no resolution.

Peacemaker has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and decent ratings for the metric hbo releases.
It seemed popular here compared to other shows.
I disagree that the show was bad. The last episide was a let down. Some of y'all have been so upset after they made the nazis the villain.

I didn’t care for his SS

I liked the guardians movies, season 1 of peacemaker, and the Superman movie.

I still think he was an odd choice to head the DCU, he seems better suited playing in his own sandbox with obscure comic characters

Failed to crack Nielsen top ten streaming didn’t it?
If people aren’t subscribing watch it, it’s not worth it.
Show business.

That doesn't mean it's not doing well. There's tons of shows that don't crack the top 10 but still get renewed
