Is it rookie QB or HC fault for losing season?

TBH, if you are in a position to be drafting first overall, it is probably the GM’s fault for having a shite roster.

It always confused me that Tennessee this year and Chicago last year paired a rookie 1st pick QB with a lame duck HC. It would make more sense to me to fire your guy when the 1st pick is secured, and then start fresh with a new QB and HC.

But the HC always gets the ax

Seems like if you have the number one pick, just cut to the chase - fire your head coach, hire a new coach, and draft a QB. I guess hindsight is 20/20.

Because the head coach tends to be the most disposable piece of pro teams.

The GM and owner think “They need to make it work with who we give them!” and not “shite, we made some bad decisions to end up here…”

Guess they weren't the saviors of garbage teams and coaches picking #1.

Pretty dumb since you then set your 1st rounder up w/a new coach who might not want him.

+1 I couldn't believe Chicago kept Eberflus last year

Teams that suck usually have terrible QB's and terrible records.

So they draft highly and draft QB's.

The real problem in the case of these last 4 is bad ownership which leads to a bad organization

Good stat.

But when you draft 1/1 more often than not you're a bad team and the QB unfortunately inherits it so it really isn't much of a surprise that this happens.

Surely you can spot the difference between these four teams listed and the 49ers & Vikings.

The Vikings have lost more Superbowls than than those four combined?

Even when those organizations committed to a complete rebuild with a new HC paired with their #1 pick, it blew up after a season.

Tennessee wasn’t far behind. Callahan was brought in as part of their rebuild, and only had to wait one season to get his #1 QB pick, but he lasted only two months with him.
