The only way is through

Random thoughts following yesterdays game:
1. The only way to have a young and talented roster is doing just what the Saints are doing.
2. This team is very watchable. I remember watching the Ditka Saints until about mid-season. They were a cluster and miserable to watch. I expected to not be able to tolerate watching this team and have free Sundays. Hasn’t been the case so far.
3. Hiring Dennis Allen was such a mistake. Not just because of him. We needed to start the rebuild then. But, by hiring Allen it made it to where we had to build the team to compete as best as possible bc he was in his second coaching stint (don’t get three shots to be HC if you fail in first two). That one decision led to:
A. Overpaying for Carr
B. Too aggressive trades / reaches in the draft
C. Hanging on to veterans past their prime
I like what we are building toward now. Idk if the process will work but at least it is a sensible, realistic strategy.

Kellen Moore has had them in every game except Seattle. For what was dubbed "the worst roster in the NFL", I think that signals that (a) we got a good coach and (b) the team isn't as horrible as everyone says

Couldn’t agree more. This is what many of us have wanted for several years and they’re still playing hard to boot. Not really sure what else you ask for besides Mickey taking another roll in the Benson empire and hiring a young GM that Kellen wants to work with.

A good point concerning CKM has been the play of the team in the second half. They compete and make adjustments which is rare for a first year coach with the worst roster in the nfl.

No excuse making from Moore either, his expectation is to win and I think it’s sincere. He’s not pleased with losing

Agreed. I think everyone we face this year will have to prepare and be ready to play in order to beat us. If we keep playing this way, teams aren’t going to look at us as just an easy win that they get by showing up.
Thats huge for a rebuilding team. Detroit had that identity when they were 0-10 in Campbell’s first year.

For all the holes this roster has we have been extremely competitive. We should probably have two more wins if we had more reliable playmakers.
This team doesn’t quit and they play hungry. Thats important for the culture.

We are the best 1-4 team in the league.

This team plays their asses off. We will beat someone we shouldn’t later in the season and screw them in the playoff race and I am very much looking forward to it. I’ve already enjoyed this season more than last year despite the many Ls. The culture in the locker room seems good as well viewing from afar unlike under Allen when players were giving crap effort, were disjointed, and did not respect him. I am cautiously optimistic that we could be following a path similar to the Lions.

This is easily the most watchable product we’ve put on the field since 2020. Outside of Carr being Patrick Mahomes for two weeks
100%. Only thing id like to see more of is some of the young guys take over more of a leadership role.
