Paying a fee to enter campus....or ticket/ID restriction

Have seen some people suggest this....or some version of access being limited to people with game tickets/LSU IDs.
Problem is you have a ton of people with legit reasons to be on campus who should not have to do this or logistically can't do it. Vendors, parents visiting their kids, contract workers at various locations....

Yep, a toll booth on Nicholson, Highland and Burbank would surely not add to traffic woes.

That’d turn into such a disaster, especially with traffic.

No one is paying a fee to be on campus for an LSU game.
Even all the pearl clutchers on tRant.

Problem is EVERYTHING with this idea.,.. what is the definition of campus ? What would it take 5000 officers or the national guard to form a perimeter ? Can the Chimes/College Row/ Walkons be open off campus ?

impossible to enforce foot traffic.

It's a public campus that the public pays for, it would be borderline impossible legally to just shut it down.

This is a physical and logistical impossibility. First, funneling 100,000 or more people through a finite number of checkpoints would, at a minimum, back traffic up to downtown from one direction, and Bluebonnet from the other.
Then, given the number of streets that allow access to campus, how could they all effectively be blocked? Barricades? It would take 30 seconds, if that long, before a barricade would be moved for cars to pass through, or jumped by a pedestrian.
Though I understand the sentiment and frustration of posters, verifying every ticket, or charging an entrance fee, is not the answer.

It would be easier (and may even happen somewhat voluntarily) to just setup racial segregation areas

I've been saying for years if you're not a ticket holder you have no business being on campus and people would bitch saying it would ruin the tailgate atmosphere. If you throw a free party undesirables will show up, whether ghetto trash or meth heads from the LP. I've been noticing it for years. Maybe it's reaching a critical mass for there to be a consensus to do something about it.

How much of the problems are neighbors walking near / onto campus?

Always a fee…tax. This will go in a politicians pocket and nothing will change.

I noticed this when I did the LSU campus tour with my kid a month ago.
There was a steady line of locals walking from the Union to the other side of Chimes Street.

just add tailgating/gameday to the long list of the things they ruin

I thought lsu added limited access booths years ago. Or at least planned to. I haven't been on campus in ten years.
