RFK links circumcision to autism because of…

…Tylenol.
I searched PT for circumcision and circumcise.
This guy obviously does not do his research on research
To be clear, the studies did not adjust for significant compounding factors, including genetics and parental psychiatric history. Those two confounding variables are indeed associated with ASD.Follow up adjustments showed no association.

quote:
Today, in a cabinet meeting, U.S. secretary of health and human services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., claimed that there is a link between autism and circumcision. “There’s two studies that show children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism. It’s highly likely because they are given Tylenol,” he stated, without citing the studies.
quote:
Kennedy was probably referring to a 2013 study of eight countries and a 2015 study from Denmark, both of which claimed to show a link between circumcision and autism rates. Helen Tager-Flusberg, an autism researcher and a professor emerita at Boston University, calls the methods used in those studies “appalling.” Tager-Flusberg leads the Coalition of Autism Scientists, a group that advocates for high-quality autism research.
Neither study shows a causal link between circumcision—or the pain relief medications that are often prescribed along with the procedure—and higher rates of autism. In the decade-plus since each was published, autism researchers have heavily criticized these studies. And after reviewing both studies, scientists last year found no evidence supporting the claim that circumcision leads to autism or any other adverse psychological effects.
To be clear, the studies did not adjust for significant compounding factors, including genetics and parental psychiatric history. Those two confounding variables are indeed associated with ASD.Follow up adjustments showed no association.

Probably anything that gives stress, inflammation and harms your organs isn't good for humans of any age but especially babies/kids.

This guy is the perfect manifestation of republican ideology.

Fact is, if circumcised persons have shown a greater number of autism cases, couldn't it just be that there are more dudes sporting helmets instead of hoodies?

Funny thing is that he is a democrat.

Tylenol wasn’t even in the original studies.
The consensus from the medical and scientific community is that the two studies were extremely flawed. More stringent and more scientific analyses showed no link.

Tylenol is pretty useless for actual pain. Why were they not given something that actually works.

Ahhh..no. He is a leftist. His entire career is no different than Morris Bart or some other trial lawyer, as he would come into a community only to sue some chemical or industrial company.

Yup. Tylenol is hell on the liver if used daily.

Read it again.
If it doesn’t make sense then look up what rate means.

Is this like the Sarah Palin and MTG agenda where we designate Bobby Kennedy as Crazy?

I don't remember them being given tylenol. I was withheld from nursing tho to soothe them afterwards.

Yes. The original studies did not adjust for significant confounding factors, including genetics and parental psychiatric history. Those two factors are absolutely associated with ASD. Additionally, the original study only looked at a subgroup of the larger group, those diagnosed before the age of five. Still without control controlling for those significant confounding variables.

This is what happens when you stop listening to professionals and start listening to nutjobs who sound like a drowning lawnmower.

Meh I'll still risk autism not to have an anteater.
I don't want to pull it out and freak an American woman out.
