Oklahoma republican governor criticizes Trump over Texas troops.

Gov. Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, a Republican and the chairman of the National Governors Association, on Thursday criticized the deployment of Texas National Guard troops to Illinois as a violation of his beliefs in federalism and “states’ rights.”
His comments, in an interview with The New York Times, marked the first time a Republican governor has questioned the interstate deployment of National Guard troops over a governor’s objections. Gov. JB Pritzker of Illinois and other Democratic elected officials have been strongly critical of the move and have implored Republican governors to join the opposition.
Mr. Stitt on Thursday said, “We believe in the federalist system — that’s states’ rights,” adding, “Oklahomans would lose their mind if Pritzker in Illinois sent troops down to Oklahoma during the Biden administration.”
Mr. Stitt stressed that he supported President Trump’s efforts to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and ensure “law and order” in cities like Chicago and Portland, Ore. But he worried about the precedent that was being set by the guard deployment and how it could be used by a president from another party.

Cool. Trump disagrees. He's the President and has the authority. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Perhaps get a handle on your crime problem and it won't happen. Prosecute criminals and throw away the key for the worst offenders. People who don't feel safe in their city have a right to do so. They are being failed by their mayors and courts.

You know that we live in a country where the Constitution protects even average, normal citizens' right to have an opinion
Y'all all loving on Charlie Kirk and what he did for free speech and then without hesitation y'all turn into an inbred mob every time you think Trump is being insulted or not listened to

Good time to remind everyone that RGA did not endorse President Trump in the GOP primary in 2024. The RGA types have always hated Trump and MAGA.
Edit: In fact I think GumboPot posted about this back in 2023-2024.

That governor has had rough run as of late, but he is right on this one.

I'm from Louisiana.
Other states have sent troops to our state on multiple occasions.
More TDS.

The states rights crowd ought to agree with him.

No he's not. History is on Trumps side on this one.
Arkansas didn't want to integrate their schools. What did the feds do? Oh yeah, sent in the national guard.

In July 2021, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt authorized the deployment of approximately 50 Oklahoma National Guard members to Texas to assist with border security under Operation Lone Star. This mission supported Texas' efforts to address illegal immigration and smuggling.

Yes, but from what STATE? Arkansas. That's the Governor's point.
Mixed bag though. I'm sure Trump trusts the Texas National Guard more.

Does he feel the same way about JFK and Ole Miss in 1962?

Wrong. Eisenhower sent in the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army, the Screaming Eagles as they are known.

Sad attempt at an apples to apples comparison. They were sent to Arkansas to enforce the Brown v Board ruling. What specific federal law or SCOTUS ruling is being broken here?

Do you EVER tire of trying to correct me...and then finding out I was right? Of course, I knew about the 101st. The question is about bringing in National Guard troops from OTHER states to police matters.
Eisenhower federalized the ARKANSAS Guard to deal with the situation in Arkansas. Kennedy federalized the MISSISSIPPI Guard in Mississippi.
"President Dwight D. Eisenhower federalized the Arkansas National Guard during the Little Rock Crisis in September 1957 to enforce the desegregation of Central High School.
Initially, Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus had deployed the National Guard to prevent nine African American students, known as the Little Rock Nine, from entering the school, citing concerns over potential violence.
After failed negotiations and continued defiance, Eisenhower issued Executive Order 10730 on September 23, 1957, which placed the Arkansas National Guard under federal authority and removed it from the governor's control.
The president also ordered 1,000 U.S. Army troops from the 101st Airborne Division to Little Rock to restore order and ensure the students' safety.
On September 25, 1957, under the protection of federalized National Guard troops and the 101st Airborne, the Little Rock Nine began attending classes at Central High School.
Eisenhower justified the action as necessary to uphold federal law and the Supreme Court’s ruling in Brown v. Board of Education, emphasizing that mob rule could not override judicial decisions."

Besides being present in our country illegally and assaulting federal law enforcement officers daily?

Three states that are solidly red that produce some of the weakest Republicans are Oklahoma, Utah, and Kentucky; never change Oklahoma we already have a useless Senator
