Interesting how "Evangelicals" are separating themselves from "Protestants".

Rasmussen would love to see all of it go away.

“Rasmussen” doesn’t care one way or the other. They just poll and present the data.

You'll see a differrent split within catholicism with younger generations heading towards traditional Latin masses and reverent nouvus ordo masses

You trust their polling and bias more than me.
But as a post said everything outside the HRC is Protestism.

“Mainline Protestants” have run off into the sunset of unbiblical leftist doom. They know and preach far more about queer theory and liberation anti-theology than they do the Scriptures, the Apostles’ Creed, the Westminster Confession, etc.
“Evangelicals” has become a catch-all pejorative phrase for ??? pretty much every professing Christian who isn’t a leftist or I guess Roman Catholic.
It’s hard to find definitions that the statist godless left won’t redefine to ridicule and revile people with whom they disagree.

Well this is just objectively and historically and completely untrue.

Of course. And if us Prots want people to understand that we’re Prots who still believe in Jesus, we are within our rights to self-define as such.

Define and evangelical
Define a Protestant.
Then compare and contrast the two
Our Church is bursting at the seams - BTW

A lot of churches are PINO, Protestant in name only. It’s no different than conservative vs moderate Republicans.

Not really distancing themselves. Protestants are a huge group. Evangelicals are a small part of that. Just identifying who they are
Posted on 10/5/25 at 12:48 pm to GumboPot
Both Catholic & Orthodox seem to be growing with the younger generations. I'm all for it

Well, Protestantism’s founding sacrament is schism, and they’ve been subdividing for 500 years. Every man’s his own pope who thinks his reading of a translation is backed by the Spirit infallibly.
But, fortunately, most of them are Christian.
Edit:
Perfect example of the schism inducing everyone’s his own Spirit inspired infallible pope because they read someone’s English interpretation based upon 500 year old traditions.

Already seeing it. My church recently switched priests after the previous laissez faire priest became ill. Now we have an extremely reverent priest. Total attendance (all ages) has probably doubled, and youth mass attendance has probably tripled, if not more. Nobody wants “more of the same” when the world is full of ideologically centrist slop. Our priest even went on a rant and made a not-so-subtle jab at Methodists when they were undergoing their schism regarding gayness, something like “we can’t abandon our beliefs simply because the wider world may temporarily think we should.” It was based as hell.

I always thought of evangelicalism as more of a political movement than a religious one. Or at least it has elements of it

Liberal branches of mainline protestant churches + pentecoastals + unitarian + non-denominationals + seventh day Adventists. Could also include Mormoms but thats a stretch because they are more cultist and most will argue not really even Christian.

Yeah I was being more technical even. Eastern Orthodox isn’t RC or Protestant. Same with other Eastern sects. LDS and JW aren’t Christians at all, so I grant that’s irrelevant here.
And RCs can also be “evangelical.”
Church history and terminology have been distorted from so many different angles it’s hard to even know when people are talking about remotely the same thing when they use certain terms.

He is Clueless, both are Protestants. Simply meaning we Protested the RCC's viewpoints and traditions and made another way, where people actually read and interpreted the bible as the holy spirit says, not as what some Priest/"Father" to us it said.

In a sea of misinformation, this stands out as an exemplar.
