I believe total EVs expected to drop upwards of 50% in Q4 with credits expiring . Don’t remember the exact figure I read, but it was high. Basically front loaded into the last couple months.

This, I would expect a pretty large dropoff with the credit expiring, I dont know about 50%, but EVs were being pushed easily off lots in lease deals where they were applying the $7.5k tax credit to make the leases stupid cheap....like $300-$400/mo with nothing down on a $50k vehicle.

If true, would you feel confident in selling a portion of your holding expecting a better price in the upcoming year?

The credit expiring and subsequent impacts should more or less be baked in I would think. It should not shock anyone when Tesla reports a drop in sales vs same time last year in Q4. Unless its more than "expected"

Also outside of the EV tax credit in the US

Per the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), Tesla EV registrations (a proxy for sales) in Europe fell to just 14,831 units in August, a 22.5% drop compared to a year ago. Meanwhile, total EV registrations in the region, which includes the UK and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), rose 26.8% in August, with overall registrations regardless of powertrain up 4.7%.
Tesla is already warning of some very bad quarters up ahead.

Good. I really want to buy a bunch more TSLA but would rather not at the current price.

Ford CEO Jim Farley, speaking at the Ford Pro Accelerate summit in Detroit on Tuesday, said he sees a huge impact from the policy change. While he still sees EVs being a “vibrant industry” going forward, it’s also “going to be smaller, way smaller than we thought.” He called the end of the $7,500 consumer incentive a game-changer and said he wouldn’t be surprised if EV sales in the U.S. go down to 5% of the industry from the current level of roughly 10% to 12%. The most recent forecast from J.D. Power and GlobalData estimated that EVs would account for 12.2% of new-vehicle sales in September 2025.
this could be where they got the 50% reduction from. going from 10% to 5%

Hyundai lowered the price of the Ioniq 5 this week by $7,600-$9,800 depending on trim
It now starts at just $36,600 including destination when just earlier this week it was over $44k (but with the $7.5k credit).
So this means 2 things:
1) Hyundai was basically getting a TON of profit on this EV off the backs of American taxpayers if they can literally cut the price by more than credit the day after the credit expires
2) Anyone who just bought an Ioniq 5 with the tax credit now suddenly has a less valuable vehicle with the price dropping by more than tax credit

Favors Tesla in the long run. They are the only EV maker except BYD that can continue to make money and sweat it out while the others fail.
I think the automotive industry will lobby/beg to cut some deal with Trump, even if it involves giving up some ownership to the gov't since they've gone all in on the EV craze. If they all bottom out, I'm going to snap up Tesla and Ford. I may be wrong, but if Trump were to pick one American automaker to own, it'd be Ford. Way more Tesla than Ford though. We need some of those billions Biden has earmarked for chargers to start showing up in more rural areas as promised. I mean the money has already been taken from us. I just want to see some benefit from my taxes.

I tried to pull the trigger on an EV because of the credit. Didn't qualify though.
