Do we have any posters on here that still blame Coach O for the program not being great?

I know last year we still had people blaming Ed because of the shambles he left the football program in. So is this all on BK or do we still have people on here still blaming O?

Duuuude, our entire roster was depleted when Kelly came in. We had our first losing record since 94. 27 years. O had pissed if a lot of big money contributors including showing up at one’s door to fight them. The whole country was finding about his personal life antics. He only recruited high star skill positions for overall recruiting rankings. Not even to mention he’s never had a successful season as a head coach (over 500) in his career without Joe burrow on his team.

Timing was bad, after winning the natty basically everyone left. If you had the transfer portal back then we would have been fine

And I’ll add no one else would’ve hired him when we promoted him nor would hire him when we fired him.

Not debating that, you’re right. I was asking does anyone here blame him now. Maybe it hasn’t been enough time for BK to right the ship

and covid and blm issues. no spring practice and players that were interviewed admitted quitting on pellini and O.

That was a trifecta shite sammich O was not getting out of.

All of this is correct. He caught lightning in a bottle. It’s true. Then he pissed it away. It was a total rebuild and Kelly started pretty strong. Big mistake with defensive coaches. Then Denbrock leaves and he makes big mistake with offensive coaches after correcting defensive fubar.

Kelly is to blame for where we are right now. Full stop. Period.

Even with the loss at OM and the dysfunctional offense, the overall program is 10x in a better place today than where O left it.

Yep he is to blame. This is year 4. Players move on after three years these days. He has transfer portal. And has had pretty good recruiting. He is to blame. He has to fix it if he can.

We will win a lot of games. He has always done that. It remains to be seen if he can deliver the championship.

Correct. O was a motivator and a rah rah guy. A good DLine coach, but a bad coach who caught lightning in a bottle. WHen you rely on the stars to line up for you to do good, those same stars can line up to make you look awful.

People may not like Kelly and think he underperformed, but he is a much better head coach than Orgeron.

Both things are true:
O left things in a complete mess, and Kelly has stabilized things and gotten the program to a level of competence.
Yet Kelly seems unable to get the program to the elite level his contract demands.

He was the reason for being 11-12 his last 2 years and Kelly starting his tenure with a depleted roster, yes.

Is he still a valid excuse for any issues this team currently has in 2025? No

Yes, the issues now are in no way connected to the problems with O

And Kelly has brought us back to 2017-2018 level. At this point that is all it is.
