Why should any federal employee get back pay? They aren’t working, so why should they be paid?

It would be an Amendment to the Constitution............

Hopefully, truly......hopefully you know what that means.

Not a great way to retain a force when people have bills and this shite happens annually, due solely to the incompetence of our leaders.

They should still have to work and should be entitled to pay once stuff reopens

If a given Congress, as whole, fails to pass a budget every single one them should be declared a lame duck and barred from future service. In other words, if the House and the Senate cannot pass an actual budget, damn a Continuing Resolution, every single person involved in that failure should be fired and that term should be their last.

Congressman Ralph Norman (R-SC) files to abolish paychecks for members of Congress during a government shutdown. "No backpay either."

This man just rapidly ascended to the top spot on the short list of politicians I respect. THIS. IS. THE. WAY.

Government is shutting down because Congress didn't do their jobs and put a plan together. In fact, they literally just came back from a weeks-long vacation. More paid time off, with a possible shutdown looming upon their return. They haven't passed an actual balanced budget since 1996. So not no, but HELL NO. Do your job or don't get paid. Period. I would be fine with my boss telling me this- because I do my job, so I don't have any worries.

There's not one profession on earth where you can cause a huge problem, force your company to shut down because of your mistakes and dereliction of duty, and then still collect a paycheck--- except for the job of US Congress member.

District includes Rock Hill, SC which is basically a suburb of Charlotte. He is running for gov. Rates as very conservative. Don’t really know much about him which is probably a good sign.

Congressional pay?

Now stop their back channel, under the table payments that dwarf their salaries.

Yea, it’s the right decision but as we all recognize it’s a minuscule piece of a lot of their incomes if being honest.

Which is the bigger problem at hand.
