The One Word to describe BK’s tenure at LSU: REACTIVE

He has been reactive when hiring coaches, reactive with high school recruiting along the lines, reactive with the portal, and reactive just about everywhere else throughout the program.

The firing and re-hiring of several coaches was the red flag for me, but he still isn’t proactive or innovative with anything he is doing…

Now we will see if he reacts to the fan base’s observations that the offense needs some kind of juice or kickstart from a mobile QB, after losing a winnable game on the road

Totally agree. It’s why we struggle in week 1 games. There’s no self awareness in the program and takes half a season to figure out our identity. And I’d add the usage of Harold Perkins has been reactionary as well. They still haven’t figured out to let Nuss run occasionally or nobody’s going to respect the play fake.

There is a lot to criticize BK about but recruiting and roster building are not one of them.

We had what most consider a top freshman class and possible the top portal class. That is not reactionary.

It’s not BK’s fault Underwood took more money and stayed home.

Our recruiting and portal class are not the problem.

They’re generally right though. I’m not sure he has a vision for what he wants to do.

What does BK look for in an OC/DC? An OL coach? I’m not confident he could articulate that.

Condescending is perfect. Whomever said that earlier nailed it.

His attitude
His responses
His game plans
His sideline demeanor

All condescending

I’m not arguing the other points.

Just saying BK has done as good as anyone in the portal and our HS recruiting is still plenty good enough

The roster is not the problem.

Too late is another word. I could tell by halftime Nuss was hurt and him playing the rest of the game was going to cause us to lose.

Sloan needs to be fired asap as he is terrible at calling plays and scripting gameplans. Always is getting out schemed too.

Unless Nuss is 95% bench him

Sounds like Les Miles on the downhill side of his career.

Consistent

3-4 losses every year regardless of the roster or coaching staff

Fired? You mean when Kelly was first hired he let go two position coaches?

His teams do not seem to be prepared......and once the game starts he starts chewing people out because they are not prepared......whose fault is that!

Truly incredible for a coach his age and amount of experience. I’ve never seen someone look so clueless so often

DC is fine.

BK made a calculated decision to promote Sloan in order to keep Underwood.

That has proven to be a catastrophic mistake

It’s a chicken/egg thing on offense. If you don’t have a vision on offense how do you know you’re recruiting your needs well?

Roster management is not just about getting highly rated guys, it’s about scheming to talent or recruiting to scheme. It’s all relevant.

What do we even want to be on offense? If we aren’t going to be a pro-style / power team, why did we build it around Nuss? Why is MVB even here? There’s no rhyme or reason to anything on that side of the ball right now.

Things panned out well on defense likely because Baker picked his guys & Baker is a good coach. But what are we even trying to do on offense? What is the identity of a Brian Kelly offense? This offense does nothing well.

BK had an upside too but it was before he came to LSU. Honestly I think he’s a good program and development coach but that’s an outdated skillset in this transfer era. Needs to be able to self evaluate and fill holes in the portal before it’s obvious to everyone else.

This. It takes the coaching staff longer to realize stuff that the fans can see right away. Fans knew Perkins was the best player on defense right away but it took 4-5 weeks before he was really on the field constantly.

Same thing with Durham last year. It took one run against South Carolina last year to know he was our best back. It took the staff 3 more games after South Carolina before he was the starter.

It's clear to fans now that Berry needs more carries badly and is by far our most explosive back. But, I don't expect him to really start getting a lot more carries until about 3 games from now.
