1st Quarter: 1 carry, -1 yard

2nd Quarter: 1 carry, 10 yards, 1 catch, 0 yards

3rd Quarter: 6 carries, 15 yards, 2 catches, 12 yards

4th Quarter: 6 carries, 26 yards, 1 TD

There was no effort to get the ball to the RBs, particularly Harlem - who didn’t touch the ball in the 1st half, until it was too late to begin establishing the run. If the backs had gotten 14 touches for 53 yards and a score in the 1st half instead of 3 touches for 9 yards, maybe we win this game.

This is OC malpractice. 1 single carry by a running back per quarter for an entire half

Eta: forgot to copy the 2nd quarter stats

I was beside myself at halftime. 2 carries for the backs in the 1st half. So bad.

They didn't even bother to try against one of the the worst rush defenses in the country. Didn't bother to try when Ole Miss was dropping 8 into coverage.

It’s almost as if a Quarterback coach is calling the plays

Why do y'all keep thinking BK has any idea how to run the football or pass the football without a high end dual threat at QB? He's a one trick pony on offense and has to rely on whoever he hires to correct things on defense.

Craziest part. The 1 for 10 in the 2nd qtr was Jackson on 3rd and 20 to play field position against prevent secondary. Otherwise you have 1 rb carry for -1 in an entire half

I said the same thing at halftime. Sloan likes to motion Thomas into the pistol and then run him out of the backfield while Berry gets one carry. Makes no sense.

Go see his 2021 Notre Dame team. Kyren Williams was a monster for them. No clue why he can’t figure it out last year and now this year.

Because he had several 1000ish yard rushers at ND with just mediocre dual threat QBs.

To the point of the thread, it’s somewhat astonishing at this point that he doesn’t insist that we establish the running game (via actual RBs, not by motioning Zavion into the backfield).

It is a pass first offense that can’t run the ball even when the defense favors the run. For this garbage to work you must have a qb that’s a threat to run the ball. Nuss isn’t a threat to run or pass, so……..

Somehow this is Nuss’s fault

My question is, why would Harlem stay around another year? Is there a contract in place?

Nice cherry picking that one year most of his time at Notre Dame was spent with dual threat QBs... Two of those years were pocket passers with over a 1k running back.

That is called a complete lack of intelligence or common sense. And we have that for our OC

It was the most glaring issue for the offense. The way we motion people into running back positions as our primary run game gives zero chance at establishing a rhythm. You have to feed your RBs to accomplish this. When you don’t, it shows a lack of mental discipline.

It’s the same reason you need to run the QB on designed runs if you do the modern RPO offense.
