Over the last 2 years our run game has been abysmal. What’s the difference? Last year we had 4 lineman get drafted, 2 in the first round. That defense could not make running room against Nichols State. This year OL talent is a step down, but the results aren’t really any different. This is not a talent or personnel problem. It’s a system, technique, strategy and coaching problem. It’s the only thing that explains how we failed to run the ball with that line last year.

What I found funny this year occurred last week. While we had trouble against SELA making room, when we ran a QB sneak, we blew their DL 5 yards off the ball twice. What that tells me is they are not aggressive in their blocking technique. I believe we have good enough talent, the scheme and technique lacks. Their should never be a time when we can’t dominate the LOS against LaTech, Nichols and SELA.

I Disagree.

We have an OL full of 4 and 5 Star Kardell Thomas types that over powered their competition in High School, but are totally "In over Their Heads" both mentally and physically at LSU.

Then add the coaching ineptness of "Sylvester" Davis and you've got one big massive shiteshow that's being over seen and approved by Brian Kelly.

That doesn’t explain last year with 2 first round picks. Those were not Kardell types and we sucked. WE WERE STONE WALLED BY NICHOLS.

Watch college football tomorrow. Watch the O lines. Its not a problem unique to LSU.

Virginia’s 3 stars looked really good run blocking FSU tonight. It is mostly a technique problem and poor fundamentals. IMO Davis will be gone after the year.

I do and will. But LSU is ranked second to last in rushing yards per game in the SEC. Didn’t even make the top 50 in NCAA. I think it’s more than just an everyone problem.

bullshite. Pure fricking bullshite. Recruiting and talent level are NOT the issue. K Thomas was overweight as shite and top heavy. None of our current OL bear even the SLIGHTEST resemblance to him.

it's a talent or experience issue at center. we got a center for this year and he got injured right off the bat. if he can make a quick comeback i still believe this oline could be decent.

It isn’t an “everyone” problem. But it also isn’t something that P4 programs, even some other major ones, are immune from. Some highlights from below 50th in the FBS:

57: Kansas (with one of the best running QBs in college football)

59: A&M

65: Ohio St

73: Minnesota (Row the Boat’s offense is built on running the ball)

76: Iowa St (we all know they are well-coached and physical)

88: Bama

98: Us

102: Baylor

109: Florida

110: Kansas St (this is a big surprise, but they are struggling)

112: Illinois (You know Bert loves some OL play. Another surprising rank)

121: Pittsburgh (another offense usually built to run the ball)

130: South Carolina (didn’t see this coming)

134: Boston College (another offense that would expect to be able to run the ball)

Does this excuse the problems? Absolutely not. It simply demonstrates that it isn’t exclusive to LSU.

If you noticed the running back was in I formation while qb was in shotgun. Time to see lane open up and gain speed

We're not getting any push. Especially from our guards. Echols does better than mubenga

Kelly has spelled that out. Echols is the stronger one. Mubenga is the most athletic OL we have and is better than anyone else pulling on gap plays.

It would be really nice if they could figure out ONE THING they can do well in the run game and then try to build on that. They do too much and aren’t good at any of it

Yeah, I was wrong on Emory. Still mind boggling how bad that line was in run blocking.

Campbell was a 1st round pick.
Jones - 3rd round pick.
Dellinger - 7th round pick.
Frazier - 5th round pick.
