Does their fanbase really nickname the Guardians, “The Guards?”

If so that’s cheesy as frick.

I bought 5 guardians shirts/jersey a few weeks ago on big time clearance. They probably regret selling them that cheap now (if they make the playoffs)

It's such a terrible name. Can't believe they chose it. Sounds like they stole it from an Arena Football team

If they HAD to change the name it should have been to Spiders

If they were going to pick something stupid, at least the Blues would be a name the team used before Indians.

I would buy gear if they were the Spiders and I'm not even an MLB fan.

Not much else you can do with the name. They have coined the term “Guards Ball” in reference to their small ball ways. It’s a highly entertaining throwback style of baseball in an era dominated by home runs.

I met a Cleveland fan in KC after a Royals game earlier this season. Asked him point-blank as to whether the fans call them the Guardians or Indians.

He said that all fans still call them the Indians and no one says Guardians. Also said that vintage Indians gear is highly sought after and treated like gold, particularly Chief Wahoo stuff.

Us old time fans will always call Indians! No one cares about those ugly AF statues over the bridge taking you to the west side. Grateful to have all of my Indians gear and none of this new shite!

I have 2 Guardians caps and a shirt that was gifted to me. The font and colors are fine. I like the alternate jerseys. It’s just the name…

They at least attempted to do it in the least invasive way possible, but the owner is still a cheapskate that has lucked his way into a front office and field staff that is arguably best in the league to get what they can out of these guys.
