I am 40+ years old and my husband put this on tonight. It is truly a great film, with a fantastic score.

You can see why "Stranger Things" harkened back to it. Latchkey kids, riding bikes, exploring, going through their parent's divorce. Discovery, wonder, survival.

And what it thankfully lacked, was the drama of girls and women. No love story, just Gertie being a funny little kid, and mom, not really being present. The focus was the goal of getting E.T. back home.

"Movie/TV Board" - yeah yeah.

My kids loved it. I went all in on a T-shirt that took all of my allowance when I saw it in the theater. The 80's were great times.

Way back when making movies was about entertainment and not trying to shape your thinking for the most part..

Glorious times.

My first movie my parents took me to and will always hold a special place.

We went to universal last year with the kids and rode the ET ride and made me want to watch. I showed the whole family and still cried at the end when he goes home. The bike scene with the music still gets me, too.

Simpler times. The 80s were the GOAT.

I never really got why ET was so popular. It's good, but I just don't see it as that good.

Anyway, I'm glad Spielberg abandoned the sub-plot romance between ET and Elloit's mom. That would have been creepy as shite and the movie would likely not have had the following it did.

Yes, really. Look it up.

going through their parent's divorce.

All the divorce stuff went completely over my head as a kid, and that's even with my parents divorcing when I was 6. But now it is noticeable as an adult.

But the thing that stands out to me now, as I watch it with my son, is how low key hot the mom is. Dee Wallace was only 31/32 in the movie, and she was looking pretty damn good.
