They have definitely got this team back in terms of depth and talent. It feels like we are 2 deep at most positions finally without much talent drop off

Was nice to see VB come in last night and perform, the RB depth is crazy good, dbs are deep everywhere, wr are deep, lbs look solid 42 has been filling in nicely

So nice to see this team back full of playmakers, got some work to do on execution, but man they have the personnel to do it throughout

I'm glad to see us back in this position

I think you may have been watching the wrong team.

Wut? Sir, think the majority of fans finally realized that Durham isnt that great and his vision is an issue. He then got injured and needed an MRI.

It’s actually the opposite. We will need to go portal hunting at this position along with a couple high school prospects. Other positions I could agree with the depth but not the running back spot.

One thing about BK is he is a damn good program builder. Does he have bad losses and do his teams at times underperform in big games ? Sure but he can get a program up to speed and running with enough time. It looks like he has LSU running smoothly now.

We grabbed the no.1 rb in the country out of HS in Bery and another top 200 kid in Lindsey ( gotta see how his case plays out though ). We are def no lacking when it comes to bringing in good players at the position

The offensive line is awful. Cannot run block well.

D staff is probably the best in n CFB.

O staff may be the worst.

Rb isn’t the issue Imo, our Ol struggled especially Davis .not just letting guys run free but false starts holding guys because they were beat every play . If they play better the RB s will magically look better.

Agree on the deep roster. I think rb is our weakest position though, especially if you compare them to other sec teams. Put missoiri rb on our team, and hows our run game...

Portal next yr- maybe elite qb if there, maybe elite rb if there, wr same elite if there, te a body since have green and lafleur (tre needs to be a wr), oline elite center if there unless echols they like (rest of oline needs to develop the elite 3 freshman we brought in and the 5 other return guys). Dline no portal.... dt has mckinley , breaux, brown, zion back and adding 2 5 star fr, de pyburn, reliford, shanklin, cj jackson and 5 star coming in. Lb 1 if elite guy is there, keys/ singleton/ and Ross/ braker/ baby weeks gotta grow up in yr 2. Cb none, have pickett/ woodland/ stamps/ jackson/ anding and have 2 solid fr coming in. Safety none unless cooley goes pro, spears/ cooley, 2 fr redshirtng now, 2 elite kids already commited and tying to flip #2 safety in state commited to oh st.

I think its a very light portal year, # wise, but one thats very elite on who we bring in

It’s also good to see a fairly structured and presented post that has optimism in it, but is not over the top. This board sometimes is hard to read with all of the stupid over the top takes by people who don’t understand football.

Offensive staff has definitely been much less impressive than the defensive staff, but when you say it may be the worst in CFB, you disqualify yourself from the conversation

Agreed. And this should pay dividends for us later in the season

We can't say it's due to a lack of recruiting and talent based on the offensive line hauls they've had. Which makes the situation even more frustrating, because they've either not evaluated the talent correctly, or they just don't know how to coach O-line..... but it isn't like Kelly is known for having terrible offensive line play. The O-line has been lackluster at best since Brad Davis got to LSU, and how he's still employed is baffling.

I think there is a lot of context and nuance on this subject and I don't think it's as simple as - they suck.

I expected the offensive line to struggle early as they have not played together, but it's time to start showing some progress and I do believe they can and I think they will but the progress may be slow and incremental and the worry is it won't come fast enough for next week.

How much of the struggles also include play design, schemes and flat out physical ability, technique and front line coaching by Davis, and running backs note reading blocks well? I can't really answer that definitively, but that is some of the context I'm talking about.

I don't think we are going to overhaul blocking schemes and concepts wholesale mid-season, so can we improve some or all of the list of things above as the season goes with time and experience? I do think so. How quickly and effectively I can't say.

Not to mention our other RB in the depth chart is at Southern because of charges.

Might be down to a converted QB and a freshman this week, with no one behind them. Likely the worst RB depth in the SEC.

We've signed 6 RB's in the last 3 classes. 3 of them are on this LSU team. 1 of them is playing for Southern awaiting trial for attempted homicide. 1 of them is in jail or on bail, awaiting trial for accessory to homicide. The last 1 will be playing against us on Saturday.

The time to portal 1 extra RB was last spring, and we didn't do it. This coming class, we need to sign 4 RB's, because based on recent history, we're going to lose 2 of the 3 scholarship RB's we have now. I'm sure we'll keep Berry and the converted QB, but Jackson is probably gone, and Durham will be too if he loses his starting spot.

Yeah you can’t really plan for your players getting arrested. Thats tough. The staff did pick Lindsay over Simon this past class. They just picked the wrong 2nd RB to take unfortunately
