I would make "a lot" one word.

ETA: I would also re-normalize the Oxford comma and make it illegal to advocate against its use.

They may not be in the dictionary and they may be irritating, but they are still words

I had a friend at LSU who insisted a word wasn't a word until it was approved by "The Usage Panel"

i before e everytime and f the y.

I’d eliminate all homophones. Which that would have the added benefit of also eliminating the main need for silent letters.

Swap the definitions of literally and figuratively, since 99% of the population literally don't know how to properly use literally.
