We are going to Kenji next week before a Saenger show.

No reviews on the board. Anyone been and have any tips or must adds to the experience?

Really looking forward to this and want to make the most of it.

A client and I were talking about it yesterday. He said it's fantastic!

Heard really good things from our food group. I know there are some add-ons like that crazy beluga caviar dish. I am going all in. Then hit the Alabama Shakes.

Well maybe you'll run into some Movers there. Y'all got Shakers covered.

Malachi Dupre former WR for LSU is one of the owners of Kenji.

Based on the pictures, doesn’t look like real omakasse like youd find in new york.

Im sure its good sushi though

This may not be the case anymore, but when we went, we booked a reservation online for a table. Apparently that’s different from the whole shebang chef’s experience I was getting told about.

Omakase at the table was $70 and then you could add things on à la carte from the menu. So I have no idea wtf I signed up for, but it wasn’t what we had been expecting.

They had a bachelorette party sitting at the bar doing Omakase and I noticed they got items we never had. So I think (at least back then) the advertised “tableside Omakase“ is different from whatever happens at the bar.

Food was good though! It just wasn’t quite on the level we’ve had doing omakase in Chicago, Houston, etc.

We went in November of last year. We sat at the counter and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sat at the counter and had an exceptional time! I crushed so many of those cocktails with the sesame in them. I thought it was one of the best drinks I've ever had.

Thank you! Same here, we got a table and couldn't even find where to make the "experience" reservation. But also no menu so who knows what we are walking into.

Believe its $135 per person for our night.

Update: got on the phone with them and moved to sushi bar. Cannot book those seats on OpenTable

Be prepared to have 6 fish with the same sauce and covered in so much shaved truffle you cannot taste the fish and walk out with a $200/person bill

Perfect actually. I am not interested in a tuna gall bladder poached in whale piss. Just want to crush something different without being weighed down at the concert.

Well, it just so happens a friend is there tonight and posted this. It does say congrats with him and his new-ish bride’s name at the top, so this could be a private dinner menu or this could just be something sweet they did because they know them (he’s a chef).

Like some others have said, it’s not as “weird” as omakase in larger cities (I actually love the weird lol), but it’s still solid fish that isn’t served in your run of the mill sushi restaurant by any means.

If you frequent Umami, it looks to be similar offerings fish wise. Better atmosphere for certain, LOL.

Thank you! It’s my first time with Omakase and I’m easily impressed. I’m ready.

Best meal we have had in a long time. Their cured fish dishes, weird Japanese cold water fish and Ora set it over the top. Would return asap.
