Food has always been good. Is the service still slow af? My only gripe about that place, but I haven't been to Hammond in a while.

Was out that way a couple weeks ago and stopped in for lunch. A lot of nostalgia there for me.

We like to go to Tommy's every now and then when we're craving some type of specialty pizza.
My favorites list of Hammond pizza spots:
1. Commodore's
2. Tommy's
3. Nola Mia
4. Milan's

Tommy’s was sold and the new owners replaced all the ornery staff, cut the menu in half and refreshed the interior. So it’s cleaner, friendlier and…not quite as good. Still, it’s better than the other pizza options in Hammond and a great place to eat at the bar. The food has gotten better in the past few months
The best pie is at Nola Mia in Ponchatoula and they are super busy all the time which can be a little aggravating. Happy for them they are killing it
we hardly ever go to commodores it’s way on the other side of town and we just don’t go that way often

there used to be a superior pizza option in Hammond where Milan’s is now, the blackened brew guy opened it and it was excellent pizza. He sold it to open another mediocre version of blackened brew off club deluxe, and the new owners clearly don’t know what they are doing. Same oven, same exact style and layout and the pizza is inedible. I don’t understand it LOL

Was pretty normal / quick for 1:45iah on Saturday afternoon. Wasn’t half full when I got there; about half when I left

Pourhouse was the name of it.
Tried their pizza and it was so burnt that it tasted like charcoal. Went back and tried the muffaletta and it was dry (hardly any olive salad) and the bread was way over done.

IDK
Maybe they had 2 off nights and I just happened to be there for both.

Possibly. We frequented there a lot. I remember their wings being pretty darn good as well

Were the best wings in Hammond.
The dude who owns it now is Italian, like I said it’s a mystery as to how the food is so bad now.

Same. I have spent a bunch of time in there in the past.
I pretty much only eat pizza from Commodore's now though. The inside sucks compared to Tommy's, but I'm no longer a 20 something going to mainly drink while also eating pizza so it's not a big deal.

Service and atmosphere is better with the new owners, food is more consistent but the pizza has changed. We still enjoy going and will continue, somewhat out of nostalgia.
Showing my age but I knew Tommy, from the original restaurant. His parents pretty much ran it and they were all some of the nicest folks you would ever meet. Much more diverse menu, in the day. Best Italian hamburger steak to be found. Had fried chicken on the menu. Tommy’s Mom would make those cooks fry that chicken into jerky. I’d go in and order a half of fried chicken, medium rare. The cooks knew and it was perfect. :)

the Tommy’s over on university by Trey Yuen had better pizza I think. Was that the same family?

It was but it depends on the year. When they sold it to James, he somewhat abbreviated the menu. He and his wife had the original location, then opened up Tommy’s on Thomas and third location in downtown Ponchatoula. When they split, they closed the Ponchatoula restaurant, James kept Tommy’s on Thomas and they sold the original restaurant, which moved and became Commodore’s.

Growing up in Tickfaw, Tommy’s, Trey Yuen, and hi Ho were staples.
Every year, Mr James would “raffle” tickets to saints games. Every year, I’d “win” tickets. He'll also be a hero of mine.

It’s nostalgic
Two heavies, bbq root beer, and some crystal hot sauce brings me back.

This matchbook made me do a double take in the 1990s...
