Charlie Kirk and Church attendance today

For those of you who went to church today, was Charlie Kirk the topic, and if so, how? Also, was attendance up? If you don't feel like answering I completely understand - God Bless.

Charlie was mentioned today. I was going regardless of what happened this past week.

Yes, he was mentioned. Yes, attendance was up. The visitors were college age or under 30s.

I like to drink in airports too. I don't take it as an offense. Although I am trying to cut back. In the past I felt God calling me and now I feel Him shouting at me. People shouldn't die because of their thoughts or feelings, no matter what they are. It you are far-right and tribally racist then you are part of the problem as well. It is Good vs Evil, and that's pretty much it. Morality is an individual choice, not a collective one. I won't speak ill of you or anyone, I do wish you peace and joy. God bless -

While what happened was a tragedy, nobody should be killed for sharing their opinion, I have a hard time with people trying to use this to fit a certain narrative.
Maybe I'm in the minority here but I don't feel like I need to shout my faith from the rooftops and act like there is a massive shift in attendance due to one event. I have found that those who are outshouting about God are some of the most ungodly people in the world.
He said divisive things to get a reaction out of people but, I do appreciate the fact that he went out and engaged with the public and gave them a chance to share their opinions.

No you don't have to shout your faith from the rooftops. Sometimes the quietest ministry can be the most effective
but you don't have to mock those who find solace or comfort in the moment with others in the house of God

That's fair, I'm salty after a long day of travel and getting an earful on social media from my HOA members bitching about the fact we have our flags at half staff.
I'm not gonna edit the post because I believe in transparency but I do apologize.

I don't hate you. Life is definitely a pain in the arse sometimes. Hope tomorrow is a blessing and not a curse -

Nearly all his views were relatively mainstream conservative views, not fringe. But if you’re far enough to the left I bet it does sound “divisive”
To the OP, he wasn’t THE topic, but yes it was addressed.

I had heard of the man but I had to Google him when Southpark mentioned him.

I'm in Paris on vacation no one's talking about it and if they did I wouldn't understand a damn thing

Don't recall him being one of the disciples. Or being mentioned in the Bible.

You can only mention people from the Bible during a homily? That’s a new one

It was mentioned and attendance was slightly more than normal

I was wondering this as well. I'm sure most pastors don't want to bring politics into church but this feels way more spiritual than anything so not sure how you couldn't at least mention it
It would feel weird if they didn't

Our attendance was up close to 50% today for a "non-special" Sunday like Easter or Christmas. We are a small church that normally gets about 125 for service and we had 175 with a lot of faces I know but haven't seen there in years.
As for the sermon, our pastor mentioned that we need to take a look around at what all is going on but didn't mention Kirk by name. Says there is a lot of strife in general.

I prefer my propaganda one source at a time. I would have zero respect for a pastor that brought his politics into church.
