Nussmeier is a poor downfield passer

Facts are facts.
In 2024, he had the most inaccurate passes of 20+ yards in the SEC. He had the the 6th worst uncatchable pass %. He had the 7th worst completion %.
Maybe this is all pretty simple. The staff is doing that Nuss does best and avoiding what he doesn’t do well.

So far in 2025, he’s 1/9 for 23 yards and 1 INT. 5 inaccurate passes.

People like to ignore this because the ball looks pretty flying through the air so they say he’s got a good deep ball. He’s at his best when he’s throwing the ball over the middle. Unfortunately, that’s also when he’s at his worst.

The problem with Nuss throwing downfield is he throws off his back foot. Nuss is very accurate when he squares up and steps into his throws.

This is true.
But I still say we don’t do it enough. Nuss isn’t incapable. He needs to figure it out if we are going to win this thing.

Nuss' strength is throwing over the middle.
Nuss' weakness are touch throws. Boundary and deep throws require touch.
Nuss' is also adverse to running.
So inexplicably, Sloan calls many passing plays to the boundary and many running plays with Nuss as an optional runner which are not Nuss' strengths.
Defenses love it.

LSU is running an offense that shields the weaknesses of the offensive line. A dip in down the field passing is the result.

I'm curious to know what Nussmeier audibles out of and into. 5 year Sr with the same OC for a while, and they still can't seem to get their shite together. Poor mechanics, poor decisions, poor game prep, poor execution, or poor play calling ?

Nuss is probably the best in college football at reading defenses…especially post snap. He did struggle getting the team into the right protections last night.
The route tree attack is laughable.
The unimaginable part has no meaning. It’s completely subjective. I’d agree in the running game… but even there you’ve got WRs doing things most teams don’t.
