This is stunning news after such a big day for boxing.

I just saw a message by Amir Khan and at one point in his message me mentioned "Mental Health" so if reading between the lines, it may have insinuated that Hatton's death was not from illness or natural causes.
But, that is just speculation on my part from that little tidbit of info from Khan.
Updated: Seems there's some speculating by the British Press that this was a suicide since Hatton had drug issues to go with his mental health issues and had attempted suicide in the past.
Either way, sad all around for his family.
RIP Champ.

That's a rough looking 46.

Ricky was much like Roberto Duran between fights. He would frequently balloon up on weight, often up in the 180 lb. range when he was boxing in the 135 class, so when he signed for a fight he went through a brutal training camp to not only condition his body to go the rounds, but to also lose all the weight he had gained between fights.
He even joked about it calling himself "Ricky Fatton" and wearing a fat suit on occasion to make light of it.
That is very hard on a body, especially when doing it so often and getting older and more difficult to accomplish.

Walking along
Singing a song
Walking in a Hatton wonderland
Never has there been a following like the Brits when Hatton had a fight.

The welterweight division back in the 2000's carried boxing during that time.

Tough SOB in the ring
He would have loved to have fought all his fights in a phone booth. His MO was to get chest to chest with his opponent and bang away at the body.
He went 45--3--0 with 32 wins by KO and all of his losses were by stoppage.
Two of his losses were to future Hall of Fame boxers in Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio. His last loss was when he came back after a 3 year layoff and just didn't have it anymore.

I remember the Floyd fight well.

Yeah, Floyd caught him with his patented "Check Hook" and put him in La La Land and finished him off as soon as the ref let it continue.
Manny flat out KO'd him with a brutal straight left and when Hatton went down I knew he wasn't going to get up. He was out before he hit the mat.

That flurry with him getting caught was incredible.
