Dana Bash just blamed billionaires that control the algorithm.

The MSM wants censorship of their competitors and a monopoly of the news. Theyre sick pieces of shite that would use even the worst situations to try and capitalize for themselves. Zero soul.

You forgot to put “news” in quotation marks. Modern American news is pure propaganda.

Ok, let's remove Billionaires from the sentence so that no feelings get hurt.

Are you saying social media and social media algorithms have no part to play in the continued divide our country is facing?

Its yellow journalism now, all of it.

The Inquirer used to be laughed at, now this model is our daily "news."

How many people used social media in the month of September and didn’t assassinate someone?

It's funny how they didn't see any problem at all with Twitter until they didn't have control over it anymore

No, but that also overlooks the bigger core societal problem: a lack of personal accountability.

All forms of media profit off of outrage. Social media has the ability to keep people outraged 24/7 from our pocket. It is definitely a contributing factor.

No historical society would tolerate the gathering of a blood thirsty mob, yet social media does its best to do that digitally multiple times a day.

I don’t think anyone would argue with that, it’s an extremely valid point.

But I don’t get why you’re treating this as black and white. Why isn’t personal accountability, or the lack of it, weighed equally? Do you disagree?

Social media almost 100% to blame

Not necessarily the algorithms they use, people will always find an echo chamber for what they want to hear

The cats out of the bag. Before social media and the internet age, you didn't have a large percentage of the population raging at random people every single day about anything and everything. Add in the fact that bad actors, foreign and abroad can and do very easily fuel the fire and widen the divide simply by posting inflammatory content en masse just for the sake of stirring the pot, creating division, and brainwashing while people mindlessly engage. Its extremely toxic, and the outlook is frankly quite bleak, and it isn't getting better anytime soon, but likely worse and worse.

Well those algorithms probably showed people clips of CNN calling people fascist.
