Our interior OL is by far the worst in the NFL.

Even Erik McCoy, a usual stalwart, didn’t play great week 1 but I believe he is still a good player. Trevor Penning has constant injury issues and Cesar Ruiz is a laughing stock at RG. He is easily the worst starter we have and the fact we gave him a 2nd contract just further proves how shitty our front office is.

The new Peat. Keep playing horrible, keep getting paid. Mind-boggling.

This is my biggest frustration watching the draft.

Remind me where the RT from LSU was drafted? He’s an immediate starter at guard. He’s not alone. There’s lots of really good interior lineman in mid rounds of the draft and we usually don’t mess with them.

I’d personally rather draft the best guard in the draft in the middle of round 2 over the 8th best db.

But that’s just me.

Yea unless you know he will used at tackle, never draft a lineman in the first.

You can always find good ones in the middle rounds.

Ruiz was a total waste of a first.

What makes the Penning pick even worse is the fact that Tyler Smith was the next offensive linemen off the board 5 picks later. Plugged into the LT role in 2022, but that didn't work out. They move him to LG and he's immediately the AP 2nd team in 2023

Just going to take time and a few years. One of the main reasons why I think so many were pissed about all the moving up. These types of positions both starters and depth usually filled in the middle rounds by solid front offices.

A first rd pick at tackle is a failure at tackle if they move positions.

We are not even close on the oline right now.
Nor the dline.

Does CKM really want to go 6-11 7-10 burning every player, every short term answer and using every play in his playbook?

Or does he shuffle every player in and out to find out who goes and who stays damn the record.

I know people who didn’t play or never were around football but it’s truly hard to grade olineman when you have guys playing along the line who haven’t been a part of the group at all. You have an unknown playing LG and some yahoo playing RT right now. It does sure seem like Ruiz was a bad pick and fit at guard. Penning as well. They have to try and find some late gems at Oline that can play on the interior here. Also, idk what is happening but our Oline hasn’t been healthy since Payton left it seems.

It was pretty bad his last year.

I think our offense if it wasn't dead last it was darn near at the bottom of the league.

They were basically sending out a new patchwork group every week on the offensive line and I think we went through three different quarterbacks?

Ian Book even started that Monday night game against the dolphins which was a disaster.

I think it was also while they still had those goofy arse covid rules going on too

This is why I was hoping the Saints would select Jared Wilson in the 3rd round.

Don’t forget that the franchise’s terrible Front Office personnel are held to zero level of accountability.

Saints & Pelicans: Abysmal and Dismal in no particular order

The penalties were bad but we ran for over 100 yds, every rusher was over 4 ypc, and only had one sack with two backups playing the majority of the game.
