Penalties, missed chances sink Saints in sloppy Week 1 loss

Sloppy mistakes defined Kellen Moore’s debut — 13 penalties, red-zone failures, and missed chances cost New Orleans a winnable game. But there were also real bright spots.
Spencer Rattler: 27/46, 214 yds, no turnovers. Poised in late drives but couldn’t finish in the red zone.
Cam Jordan: 1.5 sacks, now tied for 20th all-time (123). Vintage performance.
Alvin Kamara: 18-yard TD = the Saints’ 1,000th Superdome touchdown. Still looked like AK — and needs more touches.
Kendre Miller: Burst and vision in limited work. Should be featured more.
Kai Kroeger: Breakout debut — 50.5 average, pinned 2 inside the 20.
Bryan Bresee: Blocked field goal kept it close.
Julian Blackmon: Devastating news — shoulder injury likely ends his season.
The Saints fought until the final whistle. If they clean up penalties and involve AK + Kendre more, this team will be more than just “watchable.” Next up: 49ers in the Dome.

I had a dream last night that we made the playoffs. Just throwing that out there.

Still blows my mind that there were 3 people in the booth, including 2 former players, and no one knew what a TD from scrimmage meant
Anyway great breakdown, will check out your full breakdown and FB page later

Pre-snap penalties really hurt.
This team really needs to run the ball to have success and downs lst and 1and 15 and 2nd and 15 make it hard.
When they stayed on schedule the running game looked pretty good.

We definitely have to get the running game going. A young quarterback benefits tremendously from a strong running game and I think we have two guys in Kamara and (healthy) Kendre that can get the job done.
I think part of the reason we abandoned the run was because of pre snap penalties putting us in a hole early on, causing us to need to throw the ball on early downs.
I guess to find out if that's the case we will have to clean up the pre snap penalties.
Maybe next week will give us a better insight.

Is it just me, or did the right guard for AZ pull early EVERY play?

Also the running game will open up play action. So if you can run and therefore you open up the pass, it's night and day

He did, while our RTs played like dogshit. Both of them.
