He did look good. This week will be tougher, but for a true freshman in his first start, he looked good.

He won’t be the bust you’re hoping for

Sounds like you have a weird thing for him the way you’re defending him

He had a great first game for a freshman. It is way too early to declare him a generational talent. TJ Finley by comparison had a better first game starting as a true freshman (against a harder opponent) than Underwood,

I would place a large wager that Underwood will be better than Finley but don't put too much stock in one game. The experts declared Manning the Heisman front runner before last week.

It was against New Mexico.

Arch was great last year in his two starts vs ULM and Mississippi State.

Nope. I just know the point of this post. OP has a weird obsession with him being a bust

I watched his highlights and while I am certainly no scout, I thought he looked pretty good. It seemed clear to me their gameplan was to ease him in, a lot of short high probability throws. He looked sharp throwing the ball, passes were on time, and he was throwing with a lot of confidence and zip. He didn’t look like a grizzled veteran but he didn’t look like a deer in the headlights either. I’d never seen him play before but he looks mature, composed, and is a polished passer. I think he’s going to be a good one.

It worked out for us. He would be Nuss's understudy this year and we would be trying to outscore everybody again. His flipping freed up the money to buy us a defense.

He looked better than Nussmeier to be honest.

Ehhhh, he was off target on a bunch of passes, mostly over the WR head. Against a good defense he could have thrown a couple picks.

He definitely looked the part, though he is still a freshman so he's not going to sling it all over the place. I think Mich will be able to run the ball and stop the run in that Okey game so unless that qb can come up with some miracles i think MIch takes it.

Talking up the game at this point. BU looked decent against a badly overmatched opponent. Will get tested this week more so.

Not many kids start Week 1 as a true freshman QB and play that well.

Just because he didnt sign with LSU, doesn't mean you have to hate on the kid. Im sure you would agree Tebow and Orlovsky if Underwood was at LSU.

I saw the Bryce Underwood “every throw and run” highlights so I saw the good and bad.

Overall he looks like he’ll be really good. Made some nice escapes in the pocket. Was high on some throws and missed a few others. Not as accurate as Nuss at this point but his accuracy was I thought above average especially for a freshman. He looked the part. Pretty big arm.
