LSU still after LB : JJ Bush 6’3 217lb

Came down to LSU and Arkansas…
he chose Arkansas after they DOUBLED LSU’s initial NIL Offer.
Former Safety so he has cover skills and now plays in the box…. perfect for STAR position.
An article he stated “ I love me some LSU but I had to do what’s best for me… Arkansas”.
This will come down to an NIL decision by LSU GM, BK and Blake Baker.
I mean… if you’re only going to sign 1 LB.
Get the one you want most !!

Where did you go learn that they doubled his NIL?

Really getting tired of this shite.

I don't think they match Arkansas. He's just gonna have to give up some money if he wants to be a Tiger.

This NIL stuff and profit sharing is going come down to signing contract to stop all the backing out of deals.

I don't get it. So you make a lil more money but get to lose 7 games a year. Not sure it'd be worth it to me anyway..

These kids and their parents don’t give a damn about longer term goals. It’s all about immediate gratification.

i don't agree with it either, and i'm not saying 1 way is better than the other, but when they come from nothing, $500K difference today is a lot to someone who doesn't think long term, and sometimes those decisions are made based on the thought of "tomorrow is never guaranteed".
what we usually end up seeing when a kid chooses a bag over a better program, is they'll be in the portal the following year. then the question becomes, do you want a bag chaser? have to dig deep into the character box to see if the headache is worth the price tag.
this LSU team this year seems to be 100% bought in on TEAM, which starts with leadership and character.

He was with Perk on the sideline last weekend. Having watched that defensive masterclass of a game, I'd say he's probably rethinking his decision. No way Arkansas can match that, especially with BB as a LB specialty coach... My belief is that he makes the jump to Tigerland...

You would need inside info to say this. Otherwise, all I hear is blah, blah, blah.

Not that hard to understand. It depends on the difference in money and the financial situation of the recruit and his family. We are not talking about monopoly money. These are real dollars. We often don't know the facts on these offers. The behind the scene facts matter.

He’s thinking long-term. If another school offers him a better deal, why settle for less? If you’re talented, the NFL will notice you regardless of the team. You talk as if LSU is some LB factory. I guarantee that if you receive a better job offer, you will hand in your two weeks’ notice without hesitation. You should focus on today, not just tomorrow. I commend these young athletes for being smart and for not listening to poor advice or people who don't have their best interest, like fans.

quote:I couldn't agree more. It's one thing to "hire" experienced players out of the portal at positions of need. But when you're looking at signing HS players, at this point it should be more about character and commitment than raw talent.

How many head-case recruits have we seen that sign for random team X because they had the biggest bag, and then bail at the first opportunity? Or, commonly, they just flame out like any teenager with a million bucks in the bank would do?
I get it - it's hard to find players willing to invest in being a member of a winning team and culture. The divas are everywhere, but they're more fickle than a Miami Beach gold-digger.
Maybe it's a pipe dream, but finding quality recruits that want to be developed and be a member of a winning team should trump hiring a team of bag-chasing divas any day.
Just my two pennies worth, y'all.

Shocked if he isn't in this class

Fans are unrealistic about NIL.
Some seem to think that the player who takes the LSU NIL package is "smart" and had a good heart.
And if they take another teams higher NIL they must be a "bag chaser'.
I can easily see a good kid take more money for a lesser program because it helps his family the most the kind of money they could have never had otherwise.
You can call that greed or bag chasing or short sighted, but you could also call it "unselfish" and generous.

Luckily, there’s a few rational posters on this board to drown out the negatigers and nutjobs.

quote:I agree with all of this. Also, 500k IS A LOT! This kid isn't some elite can't miss type player. A guy like Jeremiah Smith is going to make crazy money in the NFL regardless of the school he picked, but lower guys with lower paid positions are less likely to reach those lofty goals. This isn't 500k in Cali or New York.

Personally I would love him for this class. Hopefully LSU added a little ro sweeten the deal.
