Mayor Sid out of ideas. Wants the young thugs to have a curfew now.

Seriously who thinks curfew is going to fix an out of control violent crime problem? This concept being used to reduce crime has almost a 0.0% success rate.
Might as well bring back midnight basketball.

The only solution democrats have is to treat every one like the lowest common denominator. Anything but address the root of the problem.

What's the midnight basketball thing? I've seen that referenced several times on here

BRPD spokesperson L’Jean McKneely Jr. suggested that more police cameras and ‘force multipliers’ like license plate readers could prevent such incidents by deterring crime or providing evidence for investigations. However, Washington’s neighborhood already has cameras and the shooting still occurred.
Yes Lejean, let’s go get them AFTER they commit the crime. Or maybe, just maybe, you could figure out how to PREVENT the crime. Maybe by putting more cops on the street. As has been done in the FQ and in DC. This isn’t difficult. More police on patrol will discourage unlawful behavior. If you find a way to get some judges elected who actually prosecute criminals, that will help too.
Lejean, you’re a fricking embarrassment to the uniform. You don’t even suggest preventing the carnage. You just want fancy toys to help “investigate” the aftermath. And we all see how successful that is with the Allie Rice investigation, right?

He’s a douche. He needs to get Feds help and wreck shite for a bit.

The only way to fix the problem is for extreme action to be taken.

Sid has been a total turd in the punch bowl. It’s as if he ran on a dare with absolutely no plan if he actually won. I can’t think of a single thing he’s done that’s had any meaningful impact. Completely lost apparently.

Needs to be an all out press targeting judges, prosecutors, probation officers to use the fullest extent of the law available to remove every violent criminal.

Back in the nineties, when crack cocaine became a huge problem, politicians came up with the idea that we should institute midnight basketball so the disenfranchised and fatherless thugs would have something to focus on other than robbing, stealing and cutting up each other.
Never mind that it could be accomplished by getting an 8 hour job, coming home and being a father to your kids.
Worked about as well as windshield wipers on a dogs arse.
Midnight Basketball

Agreed but he's working with Brooke's budget. BRPD is way down on manpower and a bunch are retiring

Mayor Sid has accomplished about exactly nothing since taking office. But his campaign was basically "I'm a white guy who has some black friends" and compared to the stunningly incompetent Sharon Broome, that was enough to win.
But there's no real plan and BR is in triage, to fix this city will take hard choices and actions that largely will not align with the NBR community. Baton Rouge is also broke with basically no major resources to dedicate to crime prevention.

If only we KNEW who the criminals are, like some sci-fi futuristic Tom Cruise Minority Report shite.
Oh wait, we do know who all the criminals are. Virtually all of them.
They have almost all been arrested multiple times, and often been convicted multiple times.
But yea, curfews bro.

If I was the mayor of a crime-ridden shithole, I would have a weekly press conference with huge production values, like a game show. And I would blast, criticize and ridicule every DA and judge that didn’t do their job.
I would either fix the problem or go out with a bang. I hate half-measures.

It stats at a young age. Kids are out of control, when I was young my dad put that belt on my arse if I was out of line. Nowadays you go to jail for it.

It's a bullshite marketing tool to show politicians care about crime ... it's so ineffective and pointless it's not funny.

Crime will only improve if the demographics go in a different direction and fast. Being a majority Black and low income city will always spell disaster. Poor and Hispanic ... not so much
