Yes they paid that for him before he was ever their official HC. Lol

Now I’m seeing articles all over even some from writers in Tuscaloosa asking Bama to pay DeBoer’s buyout & they are serious. Lol His buyout currently is $63 million.

We know that probably won’t happen this year, but could it happen next year? Who would they want as his replacement? I’m hearing Lane Kiffin’s name being thrown around again by some fans of course. Lol

Victim of their own success. They will keep trying to find the next Saban which will not happen anytime soon maybe ever. Unrealistic expectations. So every coach is automatically doomed. Bama is not setup to be extremely successful in modern NIL era anyway. They certainly can be successful in spurts but they'll have unrealistic every year expectations in NC which will ultimately doom them. They're probably in the worst position in NIL era when you think about it. They're not the go to when it comes to money though they're not poor and they have insane pressure there compared to pretty much any other school. It's not setup to be successful right now unless they can capture lightning in a bottle again.

They are stuck with him. They can't pay that buyout AND field a competitive team in this era. They're screwed for the next three or four years if Deboer can't turn it around.

They are just silly. The only man who could stack elite talent AND get them to play focused, disciplined football, is Nick Saban. Anybody else and Bama is an average SEC team. Deboer is just the poor fella (rich fella) who was tasked with absorbing the hatred of bama people when the inevitable crash happened.

Remember when the Red Sox paid The Yankees to take Babe Ruth and paid for years?

Bama screwed themselves out of the gate. What incentive does he have to succeed if he wins the lottery by getting fired, and never having to work again??

Even if he still wanted to coach, another simpler school will still pick him up and pay him 7 figures.

Ummmm…

The Yankees paid the Red Sox a record (at the time) $100,000 for Babe Ruth along with giving an interest free loan to the Red Sox owner of $300,000.

This new era is going to, in most years, belong to the schools with the most money

Alabama has money but not that kind of money to win every other year

They have money to win once every 5-6 years

To stack talent like Saban did takes money they don’t have

It’s literally the same scenario at every top tier program in America.

DeBoer won’t last long in Tuscaloosa. They will move decisively once they conclude that he won’t succeed there. And that conclusion could be reached this season.

This seems like a potential hilarious perfect storm of the greatest CFB coach ever in Saban retiring in conjunction with NIL taking over the league. Bama boosters have been used to 2 loss at worst seasons for 15+ years and will chase that dragon trying to find the next Saban which will be almost impossible with the way things are now

I agree but honestly with NIL and the portal, no team will ever see the type of dominance Bama had. Saban knew and that’s why he retired.

Who would possibly take that job under these circumstances unless they threw around absolutely obscene money?

He won’t be able to turn it around I don’t think. He’s losing to multiple unranked teams and feeling the pressure. Coaching DII football and in the PAC12 is far different than the SEC. Hid personality comes across as weak and too nice to me. The Bama program as a whole and their expectations are gonna eat that man alive then run him off. The Gumps are so dirty that they will do anything to get rid of him even if that means pulling an Auburn by accusing him of infidelity with a co-worker.
