Playing a local course in Denver today. 4th hole, 317yd Par 4, dogleg right and a little uphill. Hit a shite drive that ended up the left hand side and left me with 186 to the pin. Hit the purest 7i I’ve ever hit and saw it bounce on the left side of the green. Thought “sweet, I’m on the dance floor. Time to frick this putt up”.
Walked up and was looking for my ball, couldn’t find it. Hoping to god it didn’t hit cart path. Nothing.
Dude who was paired with us said in his NZ accent “hey, there’s one in the cup mate” and I said absolutely not. He said “Triple Track?” And there it was…sitting in the cup.
I ended up shooting +13, which is on the better side of what I’ve been doing lately (playing very sparsely with 3rd kid showing up back in May), and damn…I rode that high the rest of the day.
This beautifully infuriating game just has its way of pulling you right back in.

That’s awesome! The one time I holed out on a par 4 I had duffed the previous shot so it was only for birdie

Congrats man! That had to be a surreal feeling.
Also, crazy that you hit driver like 130 only to hit 7 iron 186. That is a long 7 iron.

It's always disappointing the good shots that you can't see go in.
Closest I've ever been to a hole in one was a downhill par 3 that you could see the flag but not the hole. It was tracking right at the pin, and distance looked good but that can be decieving. Pitch mark was 3' past the pin, and the ball was on the edge on the short side of the pin. It rolled back, and I am fully convinced it hit the pin and lipped out. It was one dimple away from being a hole in one. Ball was resting with the edge over the hole and couldn't have been any closer without going in.
Congrats on the eagle. Any day with an eagle is a good day of golf.

Brand new driver, hadn’t had a chance to swing it before that round. I’m about as shite as they come with a driver, but my high irons are superb. Once I get to a 5i or a 4i, it starts getting pretty inconsistent

Fossil Trace? Played it last week on a Colorado golf trip. Nice.

Nah, Homestead, just south of Fox Hollow. Really nice course for the price. Walking 18 cost less than $50. I haven't played FT yet, it's on my to-do list for sure
