What could I expect to pay for a mini split to be installed

May be a while before we do this but right now what does a mini split cost to have installed?
Our basement is unconditioned but like most basements it’s generally a comfortable temperature year round.
We currently have more people than normal in our basement and it feels a bit warm. Curious if we ever have a party down here if it will warm up more than is comfortable.
It’s a partial buried basement so it would be relatively easy to poke a hole in the wall and get access to the exterior in a few places.

The costs can vary a lot, even with a single zone system. Costs of the units themselves vary tremendously between brands, sizes, and capabilities. Electrical and plumbing (that condensate doesn't drain up hill so either it goes to the basement sump or you are able to to mount it high enough on the wall such that it can drain outside but you'll still want to route it away from the basement wall). I think you are just going to have to get quotes, the 2-zone system we did for the other house was $18k, Samsung and heat pump capable down to single-digit temps.

I can’t comment on cost but you can research the head unit and condenser online. I’ve used a couple Mitsubishi’s on previous projects and are great.

Depends on size, I’d say full installed cost anywhere from $2-4k. But you can easily install on yourself and have someone come and pull vacuum.

My brother paid $200 at his camp house in South Texas. $1,000 for unit and $200 for install.
It was done during a complete remodel so that’s why it was probably so cheap.

You might look at the DIY systems with the precharged line sets. In a basement I'd assume you would have to add a condensate pump. I'm set up to install any type of system but I was impressed at how easy it was to put in the EG4 2 ton system from signature solar.

I paid <$3k for a "DIY" mr cool mini split dual zone system I installed myself in like 3hrs. Very simple and the DIY directions are very easy to follow. No issues in the 5 years its been running.

I paid $650 last year for a system I provided all parts for to a tech after hours from my main AC company

I have had 3 quotes the past month. 1.5 ton in my garage here in Florida is
5500 including the unit
I can buy the unit for 1500.

I got quoted $7500.00 to install a 2ton unit. Found another guy who did it for $3200.00.

For a single zone system for a 400sq ft upstairs garage apartment in 2022 we paid 2,700.
