If this had been a ruling the NCAA made prior to camp, then the coaches could develop the defense with the knowledge that someone else would need to get the first reps in game one.

Having to shift your depth chart and potentially modifying your game plan for a missing starter literally 48 hours until kickoff is damaging, even if only in a small way

Don't think for one second the timing of this wasn't calculated. Someone had been sitting on that information for quite a while waiting to disseminate it at the right time. Due to the timing, the suspension should have been pushed until next week as to not have a disruption to a team that didn't even participate in a fight 7 months ago in another conference. But their incompetence is always on constant display so no one should be surprised

Why didn’t LSU enquirer months ago? Only people to blame are inside the LSU football ops building.

It wasn’t a foregone conclusion that Clemson would get this ruling in their favor. The suspension was officially recorded as an unsportsmanlike penalty, which doesn’t have a carry-over suspension. The NCAA tripped over themselves, which is the only thing they’re good at.

Is it just me or are we always catching the brunt of some bizarre NCAA ruling that ultimately fricks us over?

Why would LSU draw attention to something like that? Even if they knew about it the whole time, it changes nothing now.

Perhaps but would it have been public record that a ruling was changed after a game in another conference? It's the Ncaa's responsibility to communicate penalties. The NCAA should have communicated this. It's not like this ruling was changed after fourth quarter of the Texas bowl

Houston was given word that the penalty was upgraded post game.

If they didn't share that information with LSU, how is LSU supposed to know?

Why would LSU inquire if they were unaware of a highly unusual ruling?

Every team is prepared for this because they all have to factor in that an injury can happen at any time.

That is on US—LSU. You have to be PROACTIVE when it comes to shite like this, not REACTIVE. I’m not sure whose purview it falls under, but this is on LSU, not Clemson, not the NCAA, not the BIG 12. LSU’s. We had the most to lose. We had the ONLY thing to lose. We should have fricking gotten ahead of it.

Yeah this seems like something the NCAA should do. The big 12 told Houston. The NCAA is supposed to approve and clear transfers right? Shouldn't they say "hey this guy is suspended"?

They do frick all else, seems like they could do this one.

Why should LSU ask if a player at a different school has a penalty that'll carry over? He got ejected. How often do those penalties get changed after a game?

This is the kind of shite the NCAA should be doing

What would that have changed? If a rule is broken, and nobody says a peep, you don’t go running around making sure everyone knows about it.

It’s a defensive back position where they’ve been rotating guys all camp who is out for one half of football. It’ll be ok.

Agreed. Someone on our staff should be involved in this crap so we’re not blindsided. Players are being paid to play and the sport is constantly changing. We have to be on top of this.

I hope we use this to beat Clemsons arse.

"Hey this guy got penalized and it carried no suspension. Did y'all happen to change that?"

Do you realize how fricking stupid that sounds?

Hell the NCAA CLEARED HIS TRANSFER. If he had a suspension shouldn't that be something they'd flag then?

Prevent what from happening? You know for a fact lsu didn’t already know this was a possibility?

And let’s say for arguments sake they were blindsided by this news…are you suggesting that all preseason camp they should have not let the best safety take the number 1 reps because of a potential half of football he might miss? Seriously?
