Do you know or knew Transexuals?

I have been known three people who were or are transexuals. One was a dude who became a woman. I have to admit he looked like a man in drag regardless of hormones or make-up. He/She died about two years ago. Nice person by the way who never was a harm to anyone. Was older so I don't know what he/she died from. Don't know if he had his wiener cut off.
I know a person who was born a boy who now wants to be a women and I know a person who was born a girl who wants to be man. Both live as what they want to be and have taken the hormones. As far as I know the person born a boy has taken hormones and lives as a woman but has not removed the wiener and balls. Haven't been in touch with the born girl who wants to be a man. I think she had her boobs removed. Don't know if she got a surgically constructed wiener.
Both are nice people who never wanted to force things on others. They just wanted to have the right to live as they wanted without discrimination and no violation of their civil rights.
I admit that I don't get it and I think that it can be considered a mental disorder, but how do you treat it? Some say allowing them to live as they want is the treatment. Many mental health professionals agree that is the way to treat it and there are no drugs or cognitive behavior therapy to make them not to want to be transexual.
I agree that children should be protected from transitioning by drugs or acceptance and they should be counseled that when they are older and adults they will have the ability to make that decision as adults and live as they wish. Now if a girl is tomboy and a boy has some girlish tendencies you can't really punish them for it.

Had one for a next door neighbor before I moved. He/she was nice so I didn’t care.

No. My parents taught me to avoid people who are clearly crazy and unstable. Trannies are the easiest crazy, unstable people to spot.
Hasn’t failed me in 40 years

50+ years ...
Never knew one in school. Met first gay/lesbian in mid-30s.
Now I know lots of parents whose kids are they/them, LBGTQIA+, trans, etc in the last 5 years ...
We've mainstreamed mental illness in this country since our first gay president ...
Gonna be a long road to put this Pandora back in the box ...

I know a few trans males. Nobody really gives a frick about women wanting to be men. We can all understand someone wishing they could pee standing up. It's the trans females we don't like, for the most part. There are two at my local grocery stores. I don't get it, never will, but if they're not bothering me, I don't care. Most of us are against trans teens of any kind and transwomen in sports. I know one person who transitioned as a teen, and that person is a very fine person. I don't judge the parents that much. Hope everything turns out well in the long run, but I have my doubts.

My cousin who has suffered from various mental illnesses since birth decided after working at Disney for a couple of years that he wanted to be a she. Started taking hormone therapy, wearing bras, grew his hair out, and putting on makeup.
Whatever floats his boat, and I guess it helps him fit in with his Disney friends. I hope he is happier, but I doubt it will work in that regard.
Shame on Disney for enabling his delusions. They subsidize hormone therapy and transition stuff in their health insurance package.

My nephew has a Step-Trans.

I was good friends with a coworker until he told me his 3 year old son was non-binary (and by 5 it was his daughter). I didn't personally know the kid but that was close enough for me to know it was all contrived bullshite.

Knew an MTF before Katrina. Total a-hole. One of the few people my dog disliked.

I am very close to a trans person. Known them from birth, and was not that surprised when I found out. I thought I had my mind made up about transgender issues until someone close to me comes out who can speak so candidly, eloquently and reasonably about what they are going through. Some things I've changed my mind on or softened my views. I am not able to change my mind about everything such as sports, but it doesn't hurt to listen and empathize.

Really? The person with a dick and balls looks like a man? That's unusual. But thank you for admitting it.
