President Trump ordered the national guard for outside the Library of Congress

So apparently President Trump decided the Library of Congress was under such dire threat that only the National Guard could defend it. That’s right—America’s greatest vault of dusty law books and microfiche is now a warzone.
My friend drove by thinking maybe Antifa was looting the Dewey Decimal System, but nope, just a dozen Guardsmen standing around by LOC looking like they were protecting the world’s last copy of Cliff’s Notes.
Can you imagine the call? “Sir, they’re highlighting pages without authorization!” And Trump’s like, “Send in the troops, nobody abuses the highlighter on my watch.”

Maybe he believes in using officer presence to deter crime near places that tourists may want to visit.

I read the entire article and not once is The Library of Congress mentioned.
National Guard troops start patrolling DC Metro stations
National Guard troops will patrol D.C. Metro stations as President Donald Trump says troops will help fight crime and enforce immigration laws.
Troops have expanded their mission to 10 Metro stations, the National Guard Bureau said.
In an update Aug. 21, the Joint Information Center at the D.C. Armory gave a full list of the Metro stations members are patrolling:
Eastern Market
Foggy Bottom
Gallery Place-Chinatown
L’Enfant Plaza
McPherson Square
Metro Center
NoMa-Gallaudet University
Smithsonian
Stadium Armory
Waterfront
News4 video shows Guard troops in the Gallery Place-Chinatown station during rush hour Tuesday morning. Members in fatigues walked the platforms and talked with Metro Transit Police and WMATA Special Police. They did not appear armed.
Metro Transit police said “federal Law enforcement and National Guard troops are assisting MTPD officers to enhance safety and security efforts at DC stations and bus terminals. We appreciate their support and encourage customers to report suspicious behavior by texting MYMTPD (696873) or call (202) 962-2121."
Some riders told News4 they feel the troops are unnecessary; others said their presence makes them feel safer.
“There is crime. There is violence. It is a nonproportional response. We’re all just trying to commute, get about our daily lives. They’re just people too, but they shouldn’t be here,” one rider said.
“I don’t approve of it. We already have Metro police, and we have D.C. police, so, I don’t see why they’re needed here – unless it’s a political stunt,” another said.
“I feel safer. I do. It doesn’t bother me at all. The more police presence there are, I just feel like I’m more inclined to be downtown more often than I usually am, especially in the evening,” a third person said.
Metro riders can expect National Guard troops at bus stops as well as in Metrorail stations.

I want to know how many people on here felt unsafe and in need of the National Guard when they went on their eighth grade Washington trip.

Pro tip: Just because you workshopped something on DU and all of your purple-haired freakazoids e-slapped you on the back... that doesn't mean it is funny.

So are they protecting nothing or is a warzone? You post is contradictory. Make up your mind then start a new thread.
